So if game 1 winners finish their series off we're looking at Padres/Dodgers, Braves/Phillies, Mariners/Astros, Guardians/Yankees. 3 division rival matchups out of 4.

this game is boring. they should have the extra inning runner rule in the postseason too

Fudge no, don't let this game justify that horrible rule

My stance on the extra innings runner has already been stated multiple times, but I will say it is really strange to suddenly play under different rules during the postseason.

If the extra innings runner is how baseball is going to be played now, then it should probably apply in the postseason too.

But I will hate it until the day I die. I still hope that MLB will eventually go back to the old rules for regular season games too, but that hope is fading.

Eh, the OT rules in the NHL change between the season and post-season. Doesn't bother me in the slightest

The point of the rule is to speed things up and decrease strain on teams pitching staffs during a grueling season. This is very similar to why NHL does the same thing with 3-on-3 OT followed by a shootout and then normal 5-on-5 sudden depth in the playoffs. The variance is probably evened out over a 162 game season but in the playoffs you can afford to allow teams to play “normal” baseball games.

I’m 100% against the Manfred man. I can’t stand it. I’ll never accept it. But I don’t see the point of keeping it going in the playoffs. But that’s just me

And that's why the extra innings runner is stupid. [emoji846] Instead of a team winning with a sacrifice bunt and routine fly ball out in the 10th, we get a walk off home run.

yeah 1 home run in 6 innings is thrilling

Guardians-Yankees might be really fun. Youngest team in MLB vs. a Yankees team who I don't know where they rank age-wise but are definitely very veteran-heavy

That was awesome. And an epic bat flip to boot.

Even if they don't come back to win this game, this might be huge for the Mariners to burn Romano today. The Jays pen outside of him is not very intimidating

I'm rooting for Seattle, but, in the end, it doesn't really matter. If they win, they are going to get stomped like a narc at a biker rally by the Astros.

Jays blow 8-1 and 9-5 leads, plus Springer is out of the game

Bummer they meet in the first round. I’d prefer either of them over the AL teams.

I just want them to have a home game after being out of the playoffs for so long

Not this year. Houston, Cleveland, and New York are higher seeds.
