I know this isn’t the final form product but Jed has been on a quest to change the dynamic of the offense from the issues the prior core had. Has anything appreciably changed for the better despite different players? Still seem like they are feast or famine, still seems to have massive issues with hitting with RISP. I’m just basing this on my observations, perhaps the numbers show something different.

I think they strike out less (anecdotal but I've heard it mentioned on broadcasts) but the weird thing about having significantly worse players on offense is that it doesn't horsefeathering matter if you make contact or not.

Just putting the ball in play is not the goal, but it seems to be the philosophy. They don’t work counts either.

So instead of giving up solo dongs, we're giving up walks.

horsefeathers this team

And the three run dongs.

Walks are how solo dongs become 3-run dongs

This isn't a perfect comparison because they're one of 15 teams who didn't have a DH last year, but even with that in mind, it's fair to say they're succeeding at what they set out to do, and that it's a net benefit to the offense. Especially since the only real surprise offensive success they've taken advantage of has been Morel, and even he has only been around for less than half the season.

Since the Cub no-hit the Dodgers last season they have gone 52-94 in 146 games, playing at a 58-104 pace for most of a full season.
