Is there any other rumors that should have us concerned about him leaving other than the vague Blazers may offer him a contract rumor?

I've heard Lakers rumors as well.

At the end of of the day, if the Bulls offer him the max the minute FA opens, I'm certain he'll resign. If the Bulls try to mess around and lowball him, he'll go exploring FA even if the Bulls ultimately offer him the max. If you want to be sure to keep Zach, don't mess around.... he has made it clear that he's looking for the respect of a max level contract.

I'd agree with this. I don't know if Zach LaVine is a max player, but someone will give him the max. So if the Bulls want him they need to offer him the max or someone else will and he'll leave. If they don't want him - and I'd understand if they didn't - then don't. But don't dance around.

I don't understand the point of the last year and a half if you let Zach walk for nothing. Of course, ESPN seems to think this sign and trade is a good idea.

LOL.

That hypothetical 3-team trade is horsefeathering terrible for the Bulls. LaVine isn't from LA; just went to school there for one year. He also can't just force his way there. He would need the Bulls to cooperate to get paid. The Lakers' FO is also NOT considered well-run and is more akin to when GarPax was in charge here. Maybe not quite that bad in reputation, but it's not good...

EDIT: Also, that graphic in the tweet above is off... NBA teams are not allowed to trade consecutive 1st round picks (the 2027 & 2028 1st round picks from Lakers) because of the Stepien Rule. Only way an NBA team can do that is if they have multiple picks in one of those years, and I'm pretty sure the Lakers don't have extra picks.

Random question: which draft luck was worse for the Bulls:

-Losing coin flip with the Lakers for the number 1 pick, which was Magic Johnson

or

-Winning the coin flip with the Kings for the 7th best lottery odds, which led to Sacramento winning the 2nd pick in the draft with those numbers. GarPax was enamored with Doncic and I’m 100% confident they take him at 2 instead of..bagley

Not getting Doncic. They've been in basketball hell for quite some time. Doncic keeps them out of the basketball hell they've been in prior to the 1st half of this year.

If the Bulls draft Magic, there's no Jordan and no dynasty.

I thought I read that the coin flip didn't technically cost them that lotto pick. Them and Sac already had their own lotto numbers. Coin flip just determined positioning only if both stayed put.

ayton seems like he's done in phoenix. do we want him?

Yes, but he's going to get paid a lot. But assuming Vooch, Coby, etc. go in exchange (straight up or 3-way), the Bulls are kind of all-in on Ayton and LaVine (assuming he signs a max to stay) as the guys to build around for the next several years. If you don't sign Zach to a max, then Ayton probably wouldn't be necessary or interested.

I saw something on twitter that said the front office is (understandably) worried about Lonzo's knee long term. He's such a valuable player, it would suck big time if the Bulls can't count on him to be available.

Maybe the answer is to include him in a trade for Ayton. He'll cost a lot but he's the kind of young, athletic rim protector the Bulls lack.

So many potentially moving parts this offseason, hopefully AKME has something good up their sleeve.

Who is going to replace him? For all the injuries the Bulls had this season it was Lonzo's that hurt them the most.

I have no idea but if he's damaged goods he can't help much either. Just sucks he can't seem to stay on the court, he's had problems with his knees before this season too.

Maybe now is the time to sell on him, though.

I'd hate to move on without a solid backup plan because he MAY have recurring knee issues for the rest of his career.

I mean, obviously the knee will affect his play somewhat, but I think he can still be very effective as an on-ball defender and a spot up 3 shooter. If he can't run the offense and get the team going on the break, it would make him a lesser player, but he'd still be pretty valuable without that ability. It wouldn't really be on the table for me to trade Lonzo. Worst case, you keep drafting true PGs and play him off the ball like a Desmond Bane type.

Pip is going to be at a local liquor store tomorrow signing bottles of his new whiskey. Debating whether or not I should go. Has anyone gone to one of these events?

Cant say that I have. Maybe I'm just a cynic but I doubt you'll have any sort of meaningful interaction with him. Seems like a closed off dude. But prove me wrong! Maybe if you get him talking about MJ....

I doubt there will be much of any chance of a real conversation. Mainly wondering if I can get a pic with him. I did it about 20 years ago to meet Ditka when he was signing bottles of his wine. He was a miserable horsefeathers. Lol.

I know this would essentially be a straight roster change from Coby White to Thybulle, and the defensive upgrade would be phenomenal, but if LaVine is back I think you only need 1 more wing player. I'd prefer that player be a really good shooter over everything else. I do like Thybulle though and he has some potential to take his game up a level.

https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/bulls/lavar-ball-says-bulls-lavine-will-sign-lakers-free-agency

LaVar Ball has a history of prescience, dating back to him forecasting his son, Lonzo, being drafted by the Lakers in 2017.L

But Chicago Bulls fans hope his latest prediction is one that doesn't come to fruition.

"He's gone," LaVar matter-of-factly said when asked in a recent interview with David Kaplan whether he believes Zach LaVine will re-sign with the Bulls this offseason.

To where?

"They're gonna love him in LA," LaVar said.

lmao I cant even being to comprehend how the Lakers would be able to fit LaVine onto their roster.

LaVar likes to run his mouth and say crazy stuff, but you can't completely discount it as he has a direct connection to the Bulls in Lonzo. In the interview he said Zach did not like being the second fiddle to DeMar last year and that's why he's looking to leave. 99% sure its BS though.
