As originally expected. Wonder what the holdup was? Either way, here's hoping he can light some kind of spark with that offense. They've been terrible.

Wicks up to 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K on 51 pitches. Hoping he’s got another inning in him.

PCA with a leadoff double for Myrtle Beach. Got thrown out trying to stretch it to a triple.

Piñango home run!

Wicks’ final line: 3.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 K

5:1 GO/FO ratio too. And one hit was of the infield variety. That's a terrific first outing for him. Milb gameday strike zones are notoriously untrustworthy, but it looked like he was being squeezed a bit at the bottom of the zone. Hopefully someone was there than can chime in on it.

Pinango up to .294/.400/.471, though still too many balls on the ground in the early going here.

Oh, and he's the fifth youngest hitter in the Midwest League, so that's fun.

Yeah, I like Pinango but he’s outclassed in this series by the similar Hassell all around. This definitely isn’t meant to be insulting but I wonder if he is a better KBO or NPB prospect than MLB one. Stars and starters in the MLB are just stronger, but Pinango’s got some decent tools on offense and some idea. Like if he’s not on a 40 by the time MiLB FA rolls around I hope he shops himself overseas, beats slogging it in the minors

Piñango being outclassed by a better prospect (a former top 10 pick!) doesn’t mean he doesn’t have the potential to be a good big leaguer. Also, not shocking he isn’t as strong as someone 9 months older. Especially after an offseason he likely couldn’t life due to arm injury.
