He’s been pretty bad for awhile, but I guess is okay emergency depth. Can kinda do the contact thing and has a 2+ and 4+ win year on the resume. Still under 30.

He was on a Minor League deal with the Yankees last year, and the Yankees are THE premier team at rehabilitating bats. They're basically the hitter version of what the Rays do with relievers. So this is interesting in the same way Ryne Stanek became like 30% more interesting when we saw the Rays and Dodgers like him.

 

Even if there's not anything deeper there though, Iowa is pathetisad on the position player front. So this is still very valuable depth regardless.

I feel like we've been spoiled with so many phenoms coming up through the ranks in their early 20's or as teenagers that many people have forgotten that most players don't really hit their prime until 27-32.
