Always good to win a non-Hendricks/Darvish game

Time to step up our play. The Cardinals do not play a team with a record above .500 for the rest of the season while the Cubs play 8 of their remaining 17 games against winning teams.

Of course, during that 17 game stretch the Cardinals are playing 25 games. The primary concern is that 10 of those 25 are against the Brewers, and someone has to win those games, so the Cubs just have to win some series here. Win this and the next series against the Brewers and the rest of the season should work itself out fine.

Yeah don’t horsefeathers yourself here and while you have 10 guaranteed wins for those 2 you also have 10 guaranteed losses. Would be hard for both the Brewers and Cardinals to jump us if we just play .500ish the rest of the way. We have 17 left, 7-10 gets us to 32 wins and probably wins the division. More than 7 and it has to essentially be 100% to win it if we get to 33+.

Yeah not too concerned about making the playoffs. Actually not too concerned with winning the division either other than not letting the stupid cardinals win it. Good point about the Brewers/Cardinals games

Win 3 of the next 5 and the division is basically in the bag, barring some nonsense where the Cards or Brewers end the season on like a 15-2 run.

The big thing is passing the Braves. The number 2 seed in the NL is likely going to get one of the Giants/Rockies/Marlins. The 3 seed is looking at the Phillies or Cards. That's a massive difference.

Probably shouldn't but I feel pretty good about how that late inning Billy Hamilton in CF thing can play in the postseason

Something like Schwarber leading off the 7th with a walk and getting replaced by Hamilton at first sounds pretty great to me.
