How excited should we be about Nico in the future?

We should be excited because he could be a fast mover and make Russell disappear. I don’t think he’s going to be a star but a solid regular (2-4 win player) and safeish floor. I see a SS DJ Lemahieu in him +/-.

Much thanks! How fast a mover? Like Sept 2020?

If everything breaks right (he should start in AA this year) he could be up later this year. But yeah maybe next June-July as the earliest in a more realistic (but still fast tracked) case as being up for good. Certainly a September callup next year. I’d say look at Happ/Schwarber timeline if everything goes right.

And with the Lemahieu comp, you’d hope he has a little more BB ability and/or power but he’s still plenty useful if he can be Lemahieu at SS with at least average to a tick above average defense.

Lol. I just googled Nico. When he makes it up to Chicago the entire infield will look like the cover of Tiger Beat magazine.

Kintzler and Duensing both looked like dog horsefeathers today. Glad they seem to have little competition and are pretty much guaranteed a job out of ST. Duensing gave up 2 Dongs and Kintzler was getting behind everyone and gave up some hard contact.

time to pump the brakes on the Maples fixed bandwagon : (

That bandwagon was running on four bald tires to begin with.

Did Tazawa get hurt? He only went .2 innings (only 2 batters faced) then Maples came in. Gonna chalk up Maples outing to him not being entirely ready to come in.

Well, Ricketts "likes our team", so all will be fine. No worries... :banghead:

Yeah, but he was referring to Trump-Pence.

Broadcast said Maples was scheduled to pitch the bottom of the 9th, but since there was to be no bottom to the ninth, they had to get maples in the 8th.

I hope everyone is sitting down when they read this and is braced for the shock, but Almora is leading off vs a RHP and grounded out to the left side in his first AB.

Going off play by play makes Monty’s line seem better than it looks. GB hit to 3B and 2 errors and a Dong but lots of stuff on the ground. Almora was replaced in the 4th while no other starters have been pulled yet.....
