Cubs haven't been scoring lately but only one thing can save them. That would be playing in front of the best fans in baseball!! Nothing would make a player grind out at bats and play the game right than trying to impress these intelligent fans! If this can't save them I dont know what can.

 

Here are the May 4th games of the last 3 years.

2015-Cubs-9 Cardinals-10 Cubs scored 5 off Carlos Martinez in the 1st only for Mark Reynolds to hit a grand slam in the bottom half. Cubs held a lead until Strop and Rosscup combined to give up 4 in the 7th. This moved the Cubs to 13-11 and 5.5 games out of 1st.

 

2016-Cubs-6 Pirates-2 Zobrist hit a 3 run bomb early to kick off his hot May of 2016 and Lester grinded out 5 2/3 shutout innings. Rizzo added a home run his 9th of the season. Adam Warren gave up the only 2 runs. This moved the Cubs to a decent mark of 20-6 and a 6 game division lead.

 

2017-Cubs-5 Phillies-4 in 13 innings.Miggy hit a tying homer in the 8th and both teams blew scoring chances in extras before Matt Szczur hit a ground ball that the Phillies hoped would be an inning ending double play but instead was a walk off error. This gave Koji Uehara his first win as a Cub and gave Matt Szczur one last great moment before the Cubs let him go. This moved the Cubs to 16-12 and a 1.5 game lead in the Central.

 

Go Cubs....Score at least 4!

For some unknown reason, my otherwise awesome wife still buys these every now and then for herself. But I have to remind myself she was raised by Cardinals fans who have a diet that consists of like 5 things because they won’t try anything that’s not American.
