Jose Quintana pitches tomorrow as our 4th starter, Brett Anderson was our 4th starter to open the year last year

Wow, you’re really trying to block Lackey from your memory.

He was our 3rd starter to open the year. For some reason rotation went Lester/Jake/Lackey/Anderson/Hendricks

We somehow won 92 games and made the NLCS

Forget all the horsefeathers baseball and a couple bad starts. Schwarber and Russell look great. Zobrist looks like 2016 Zobrist. This offense is going to be humming soon enough.

Getting a close to 2016 Zobrist for even 130 games and minimizing having to play Happ/Javy/Almora every day is going to be huge for the lineup being more consistent, imo.

People freaking out about RISP.

Nah. It's just annoying that the weird outlier of seemingly struggling too often specifically with getting a guy in from 3rd with 1 or no outs has continued into the tiny sample size of this year, not, "oh, golly, the Cubs sure stink with RISP, dur-hur-hurrrrr."

Can any of our pitchers even get sent to AAA for a fresh arm or do we gotta abuse the 10 day dl?

The only pitcher who will be unavailable for multiple days is Butler and he's out of options. If we need another pitcher, I'd think it'd have to be Almora who gets optioned to AAA for 10 days or whatever the number is.

Theo must be too much of a man of integrity to play the 10 day DL games because he absolutely should have with Butler today. The Dodgers absolutely would’ve and Butler can’t pitch for half the 10 of the days he’d be on the DL anyways

I didn't mean it like that. I'm including myself in that. I meant it more like it's not really baseball without having stupid RISP stuff happening. It just feels like we're right back into the thick of things very quickly out of the gate.

Can LaStella be optioned. I'd guess he would before Almora in order to get a pitcher up from Iowa. Of course, there's always the possibility TLS would quit and go home.

Yep. 100% on board with you there. I don't even want Zobrist playing more than 130 games. Rest him. Keep him healthy. Have him fresh for the playoffs.

And I think Schwarber and Russell are keys this year because they can solidify their standing on the SuperCub core. Them being good would help a ton this year, too. But just getting a better understanding of who they are would give me some peace of mind.

Maybe it's dumb but all 3 starters so far seem to have struggled with command, I wonder if moving from such a dry climate in Arizona to a humid one in Florida has anything to do with it and the feel of the ball being a little off.
