I went to that site last night for schadenfreude and couldn't even enjoy it. It was a combination of complete surrender(in the 7th inning they were discussing offseason plans), and terrible opinions that looked completely genuine(DFA Rendon, bench Harper, etc).

lol yeah. i imagine that's what it was like looking at this board around the 08 playoffs, with fewer terrible meatbally opinions but just as much despair

Just watching the expressions of the Nationals fans behind home plate after the 2 run rally, they looked completely shell shocked and defeated. Made me realize that holy crap we used to be like that.

And the Nationals have been good for a longer span than we ever were (before the current run), and they've crapped the bed every single year. It's wearing on them hard

This seems as good a place as any to put this:

What a piece of horsefeathers. But I did have to laugh at “the full tiddies” line.

Was he in California when he sent the pics? That was the loophole that a Blackhawks minor leaguer used to avoid similar charges. That article makes it sound like the Nats might get sued too since they knew what he was doing and didn't do anything to stop it.

Maddon keeps things loose before Game 3, and his Cubs eat it up

To each his own, Nationals manager Dusty Baker said.

“It’s not my thing, really,” said Baker, a three-time manager of the year. “I’m an innovator of stuff. I don’t copy other people. Most of the time, they copy me.

“They can do what they want to do. I don’t really care, honestly. It seems to work for them. Our own thing seems to work for us.”

LOL @ Dusty

He's right. No one ever used bizarre fishing metaphors before Dusty blazed that trail.

Courtesy of a Deadspin comment:

I remember the heartache of the Bartman game in 2003. I thought that was the low-point of Dusty’s managing career. But tonight was a horror show of Lovecraftian proportions; the only thing missing was Yog-Sothoth gargling “Take Me Out To The Ballgame” and driving everyone insane.

Some power in the countless dimensions really, really, REALLY hates Dusty Baker.

horsefeathers that it makes it seem like dusty's a victim of bad juju instead of his incompetence

Jeez, nothing makes you happy.

How about this?

It took four hours and 37 minutes.

Even the Titanic managed to sink faster than the Nats.

It's how he acts when this "bad luck" happens that helps to rattle his team instead of calming them down.

Some of it is his decision-making, but he would have won the Bartman game and the game last night if he had acted differently. He does nothing to reset his team.

Banned for loving Dusty?

Harsh....but fair.

It must really rankle you Dusty Busters that Dusty Baker is more successful than you'll ever be. He's better paid, more well-liked, probably had more and better gals then you, and when it's all said and done and it's in the history books he will be remembered as a good manager. And no one will remember you.

And on top of this, he's ruining your Cubs. And he'll probably finish out his contract - your protests are going to go totally unheeded. la (laugh aloud), it's such a waste of energy!

It's kinda sad, when I put it in these real life terms, isn't it? I feel for you.

Me, I give Dusty credit when it's due, like with Neifi today, and I'd rather elevate than denigrate anyway, makes me happier. To point out every little flaw doesn't do it for me either.

What it comes down to for me, is that when y'all can't even give credit to the guy when a move he makes turns out well, that's just sad.
