The 1969 Cubs played the Mets 4 times in September.

Fast forward to 2017 and they are playing the Mets 3 times in September.

As we all know 3 backwards looks like an E.

E also is the first letter in the word "end".

There are also 3 letters in the word "end" and as we all know the Spanish translation for the word "end" is "fin", which also has 3 letters.

There are no Cubs currently wearing the number 3 but as we all know David Ross wore the number 3 in the 2016 season.

Before retiring David Ross had been a member of 2 World Series Championships.

If you multiple the number of letters in the word "end" by 2 you get the number 6.

3 sixes placed directly next to each other gives you the digit 666.

666 as we know is referred to as the number of the beast by the Book of Revelation which signals the incoming Apocalypse.

People have referred to the destruction of the recent hurricanes as "apocalyptic".

As we all are aware of the fact that Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma reached landfall in almost back to back succession.

Because of this the Cubs will win back to back World Series.

You forgot an essential equation: Harvey (6 letters) plus Irma (4 letters) = 10 letters. Bill Murray = 10 letters. Therefore John Cussack won't play for the Cubs this season.

Lost in the discussion about the '69 Cubs is the fact that Mets went on an incredible run to end that season. They were 10 games back of the Cubs and finished 8 ahead by going 38-6 over their last 44 games.

'04 was similar. The Astros went 36-10 to pass the Cubs who went a perfectly respectable 26-20 over the same period. Of course, the Giants also passed the Cubs going 28-16 over the same period. But what the Astros did, making up 10 games in the standings over a 46 game stretch when the team they were chasing was posting a .565 winning percentage... That sucked.
