Duke, Stephen Ridings is a deep as horsefeathers sleeper that might merit paying attention to as well. He's already 23 and came from a very small school. We took him in the 8th round last year, as a true project. He didn't pitch last year, after being drafted. But he's 6'8 and throws mid to upper 90's. I remember reading that the FO was kind of excited about him a few months ago.

Ridings got an extended call out in the Verducci book. They worked him out at Wrigley pre-draft and his Trackman performance was really good, if I recall he gets incredible extension so his effective velocity is higher than his radar gun readings.

All 6 of Hudson's strikeouts came on the CB which he was spotting well. No FB velo reports from the Loons broadcasters but they did mention (oddly) Hudson's CB velocity 3 times. 74, 75, 77. He very often started an at bat with a CB for a strike and again all 6 of his Ks were on the curve (5 swinging).

I like Lang, but the difference between him and Faedo (pick #18 by the Tigers) is obvious.

Faedo could probably be the Cubs 5th starter right now.

OK, back to the Cubs...

Faedo should've been a top ten pick. Teams passing on him 8-17 due to minor knee surgeries was silly.

Yeah, in some mocks I saw him as high as #4 to the Rays. Then, he dropped to the teens.

For the CWS, we need a 2-0 sweep... If it goes to game 3, I see Lang starting with a pitch count as high as 140... Go Gators!

It didn't get any better, 4IP & 8ER.

Awful start, but I don't understand the "again" reference?!?

He hasn't had a game like this the entire year; I don't know if he had a game like this last year, either.

Yeah, I may be being a bit tough on him. But, I was expecting him to grow into a consensus top 100 type and his walks are up quite a bit from last year. K's are down some too. He's definitely not gained value from where he was at the end of last year.

He's shown some pitchability to minimize damage this season but his year has been very disappointing so far.

davell, fair enough.

He was doing OK until last night, but he hasn't progressed. He's definitely been passed by Hatch in the system, maybe a couple other guys have passed him, too.

The second half of the season will be important for him. Last year he turned it up the 10-12 starts, that's when he established himself as a top 10 prospect in the system.
