So, it looks like Charcer Burks went on the 7-day DL yesterday. What is everyone's opinion of him as a prospect? He's tearing up Tennessee this year, but I don't hear his name mentioned much among prospects. It's not like he's older or anything.

I like him. He's good defensively (won the GG for LF in the Carolina League last year) and has shown he can play some CF but isn't a world beater out there. He only had about 150 PAs before getting injured, but I think the bat's for real. Then again, I'm a little higher on him than probably most. I picked him to breakout this year. My expectation was a .275/.385/.435ish slash this season. He started off hot and is currently better than that. I see a 4th OFer/2nd division starter ceiling for him.

He injured himself running into the wall on a well hit ball that wound up as an inside the park HR. I hope he's not seriously hurt. It didn't looked that bad when it happened as he finished the inning in CF. It looked like it could've been a concussion. Have you heard anything on the specifics?

Like him a lot. He looks to be a very useful player, being able to play all 3 OF positions. He shows really good command of the strikezone and he has at least average power. There's plenty of potential there.

Steele with a very solid outing. 7 8 3 3 0 5, 9/3 GO/FO, on 93 pitches. Gave up the 3 runs in the 1st and 2nd, then settled down.

Is Acevedo for real or what?

He's interesting, but he's truly a project. He's got ridiculous stuff, or did anyway. In his case, I'm shocked he's got this few K's, even if it is a SSS. I'm sure he's attempting to work on his control. I'd be interested to see a current report on him, but he seemed like a guy that had no clue how to pitch, to me. Veeeeery raw, and he's certainly not getting younger. So, unless there's been a serious change in his mechanics and/or he's got some semblance of command now, I'd still look at him as an extreme long shot.

Some good stuff from Arguello on Javier Assad, Amaya, and Ademan.

From that article, Ian Rice has thrown out 3 of his last 9 runners after starting out 0-8. Now hitting .257/.387/.469 after hitting his 6th HR of the season yesterday. Still no idea whether he can catch, but if throwing out runners is one of his major problems it's an easy one to track progress on.
