Eddie Butler is back off the DL and starting for Iowa.

Lined up perfectly for Anderson's next start (though Mike Montgomery is the obvious answer for the 5th spot in the rotation).

Pretty good outings from Underwood, De La Cruz and Cease tonight.

Underwood ran into some trouble in the 6th - let the first two get on and Brad Markey let them score.

At 69 pitches, I'm not sure de la Cruz' night is done yet.

Underwood's final line was 5 4 4 2 3 3. A bit deceptive though, as he walked the first two guys in the 6th and both scored after he was taken out obviously.

Edit: Raisin beat me

Eddie Butler's struck out 4 (!) guys in his first 4 innings.

Make it 5 in 5.....(4 hits allowed and no walks too in 78 pitches)

Jesus lol

When he's missing, its usually not by much. His control is going to wind up OK. I'd be surprised if the command winds up even average, but if the control does take a step forward, that's all he needs to be a starter, with his stuff.

I think I prefer Butler over Monty. Monty has so much value as a guy that can go 3 innings or whatever is needed, I think we'll need that a LOT unfortunately this year. He can do that and save the pen, while Butler can probably go deeper in games started than Monty anyway.

I'd rather have Montgomery start because I think he's the better pitcher and I want the better pitcher pitching more innings.
