Quick question and please don't get angry. It's just that you're the people I talk Cubs with.

Is it worrisome at all that it doesn't matter who we play, we are in a dogfight every game? There has been only two games - one against Pittsburgh and yesterday - that were comfortable. I feel we have played enough medicore teams that it's surprising how much work most of these wins have been.

Thanks for listening.

We were spoiled last year. What was the stat soccer10k posted earlier today, that our RD was like +95 at this point last year? It's really only that. There are going to be a ton more dog fights unless the rotation gets back to what we are accustomed to. But it's not really worrisome or bad. We can still be really good without blowing everyone out.

It would be interesting to go back to the Wade thread and see the reactions at the time.

Definitely not universal praise. In fact, the furthest thing from it. But, there was also concern he wouldn't be healthy. I suppose that is still a concern that lingers. But he's horsefeathering nails right now. He's pitching at the level he was at when he was at his very best.

Which is amazing, because his spring training was complete ass. Joe said he'd be fine. I think I believe him.

Ok, I say it every year, but next year is the year I *finally* don't pay attention to Spring Training at all.

Fair enough. It probably feels more strange to me because we start every single game down by a run or two after an inning.

There's no "kinda" about it.

To be totally honest I also asked the question because I'm pretty sure I liked the trade and hoped somebody would read the thread again and think I was a genius.

I think there's a really good chance we'll go thru a 17-3, 18-2 type of stretch where we are just dominant. With as poor as we've played, to be 15-12 at this point, is pretty decent. There's probably some letdown, where its impossible to avoid honestly. But, there's going to be a dominant stretch, where the pitching and hitting are both hot.

That could be it, too. And it probably is, at least mentally, for us fans. And, sure, I'd love to blow some teams out, too. I think those blowouts will come. But until we get this rotation back on track, it's not going to be easy.

The key is fixing it -- through trade or just guys improving. But we can survive alright until that happens.

I think there's a good chance Jed and Theo add a starter before the deadline. Whether they go all in on a Chris Archer type or just a decent 5th starter is the main question.

It entirely possible that we win this crap division with 90ish wins or so which is fine but it will just mean we will probably be at LA to open the playoffs. Nice problem to have though

90 wins winning a division isn't exactly rare. And the Dodgers have a worse record than the Cubs right now, so it's a little weird to presume they'd just automatically be better.

Don't see why they'd give up anything for a "decent 5th starter" when that isn't really necessary to win the division and he definitely wouldn't be in a playoff rotation. Go big or don't bother.

They just usually seem to be able to flip a switch and but yeah you are correct. The Cubs could easily host an opening round series
