That's why it's open discussion because the past two years the secret balloting achieved little when I was doing everything myself. I have a plan, though.

I figured as much...I think last year I started participating and then couldn't finish. I have time to kill, at least during M-F so figured I would contribute if there was any benefit. You seem to have a pretty good grasp on things through...up to you :)

No, by all means contribute, everyone contribute. Reading me having a discussion with myself is boring. I'm setting up a blind selection for the top 8 based on everyone's thoughts for the 12 best teams.

Vermont rolled in the America East semis, and moves on to the final.

Gonzaga and St. Mary's both made the WCC final.

UNC Wilmington won the CAA over Charleston, so UNCW is off the at-large board and on the auto-bid board.

ETSU won the Southern auto bid.

Iona won the MAAC bid.

The Horizon final will be 10 seed Milwaukee vs 4 seed Northern Kentucky. If Milwaukee wins, they are a shoo-in for the first four.

So from that, who are your top 16, and what 10 teams can safely be eliminated from at-large consideration (since even eliminating 10 teams from that list leaves at least 9 too many)?

I am fine with independent opinions and not being influenced by the "experts" but Bracket Matrix has Rhode Island as their 1st team out...do you really not believe they are one of the first 9 teams out of the bracket?

Regarding the 5 you have out that I don't, I've got all of them as needing to do some serious damage in their conference tourneys to make it.

I'm also not sure I see a path for Nevada.

And then I have Cal, Illinois, Indiana, Rhode Island, and Clemson as begging to be left out, which brings me to 2 teams short.

And that doesn't get into teams like Iowa, Syracuse, or Vandy who should really win their first game.

I'm going to set up a blind poll based on nitty-gritty numbers for each protected seed potential, but won't get it until this evening. Until then the next steps are to rank the one bid entrants from the bottom and start sorting through the remaining at large bids.

From 68 on: Per unspoken rules, one of the MEAC or SWAC teams would need to be moved out of the play-in games, but really I don't have a huge difference from SD State through TX Southern.

Mt St. Mary's

NC Central

New Orleans

TX Southern

North Dakota

UC Irvine

Jacksonville St

No. KY

SD St.

NMSU

Iona

Winthrop

Bucknell

Ohio

Vermont

FL Gulf

Princeton

MTSU

ETSU

UNCW

Nevada

Arlington

I have to be perfectly honest, I would have a really hard time ranking those teams without pouring through the resumes of each one. I might have to sit this step out :(

Poring over 1-bid conferences might be my favorite part of the process. You learn a lot that you can the misapply in gambling events.

What would your next 12 be on the board after the 18 liated?

Fun fact: In 2018 the B1G wanted to have the conference tournament at MSG, but it was booked for the Big East tournament, so instead, the B1G tournament is being bumped up a week in 2018 so it can be at MSG.

That seals it, doing a nitty gritty on every one bid league.
