Anyone streaming this? Don't have my headphones at work...

yes,

whole lot of nothing

pace doing nearly all the talking. lot of enthusiasm for coaching senior bowl and opportunity to draft high and talk of top 5 cap space.

status quo, not enough shame

seems crazy that the Bears are the only Chicago sports team that I haven't seen win a championship (well I was just over 1 year old for Super Bowl XX so there's a chance I may have watched it but whatever.)

I was getting legally drunk during that game. Damn I'm old.

I was 9 when the Bears won, but I didn't get into football until much, much later, and I don't remember watching it.

The 84-89 Bears are the reason I loved football so much. That, and as a toddler realizing Terry Bradshaw also had gold hair so I was a steelers fan in the late 70's.

what about holding onto cutler through training camp and waiting/hoping for an injury to a starting QB on a team with aspirations of competing and trading him off then? if it doesn't come you can still roll with cutler and a draft pick next year.

does our allegedly favorable cap position come from cutting cutler at the start of the new NFL season? if we could offload him during training camp we could still use the savings on the inevitable training camp cap casualties no?

they have lots of cap space with cutler still under contract

in that case i'd rather just keep cutler and pair him with a developmental draft pick and see if an opportunity to trade him arises.

unless we could cut cutler, sign romo when FA opens, and then deal him to a team that is desperate when their starter goes down (ala bradford/minny)?

So go the Sam Bradford route? That's interesting.

I fully expect the Bears to make a run at Romo, the way Pace was talking.

He knows that there may be no tomorrow for Fox and that he may soon follow, despite the draft success he's had.

Literally hoping for a late preseason QB injury is an awful plan, but they could go through the FA and draft before making a decision on Cutler, for sure.

clayton was predicting romo to the bears yesterday

idk why he wouldn't go to denver or why they wouldn't be after him but apparently they're happy with siemian

romo is the one qb that we realistically could get who would be a clear upgrade over keeping jay around. i'd be excited about that. just wonder what the cost would be. Edited by David

Yea hard to imagine Denver not going after a FA QB and not getting whoever their first choice is. Bears might need to trade for Romo if thats what they want.

What is everyone speculating about Bradford. I'm sure hes going to get a bog payday now that he stayef healthy and led the league in completion %

there is absolutely nothing clear about him being an upgrade

he's three years older than cutler coming off two consecutive completely lost seasons

he's most likely done

trade for romo?

I could not think of a worse decision to make with QB this offseason

the dude would be going from the best offensive line in the game to the freaking Bears. he would easily be able to dress as the headless horseman for halloween

sure, but he's been so much better than cutler that the importance of those things is diminished and, hell, maybe the time off (and he's been healthy for weeks now) helped him heal up a little bit more in terms of the wear and tear aspect. when tony romo plays, he plays like an elite quarterback. i'd like our chances a lot more with him than cutler.

he's most likely done

so is jay (who just tore the labrum in his throwing shoulder which puts into severe jeopardy the one thing he was really great at)

the bears line is by no means very good, but you really seem to have some weird fixation where you think it's much worse than it is.

it's kinda meh. maybe a little better than that.

it managed to get two QBs killed this year, and Romo is used to playing for the absolute best line. Going from best to average is going to increase his odds of getting hurt, and he's older, and he's owed a horsefeathers ton of money and he's never going to last the season.

Not necessarily if:

-Cutler's cap space does not affect any potential acquisitions this offseason

-The Bears are fine with riding with Cutler as a mentor for a new QB if no such injury occurs

-The Bears actually draft a promising QB

From what I understand, that was basically the Bradford plan. They were more than willing to let Wentz backup Bradford for a year, but when the Vikings came calling out of desperation they were more than willing to trade him for a nice return.

So its interesting, but as much as I love Cutler, I'd like to cut him as soon as it makes sense to and just move on. I'm sick of the endless debates and hot takes that surround Cutler and want to set him free and start over.

Romo is a great example of even the Cowboys line getting people killed, too. There's no way to completely eliminate the possibility of a sack happening.

The Bears allowed the same amount of sacks in 2016 as Dallas, and Dallas threw 116 fewer times. This narrative that they are bad at pass blocking is an extremely lazy one and exists purely in your mind alone.
