But then it's almost time for bed. I'm old, dammit. It's a miracle if I'm up past midnight.

Would be helpful if you could search by posts and time...

now you really deserve to be jagsfanned. I'm almost 40, and my bedtime on weekdays is midnight.

They played this game already, right? Having to wait this long between games is something nobody would have to do.

This site definitely is the kind of angry, snarky place where for a split-second I was really worried about all of the posts I had made past midnight, like it was going to be this terrible gotcha-moment of shame, until I came to my senses and realized only fatheaded clods would actually care about something like that.

We've made a good thing here, people.

I just want to mock you mercilessly for being under 40 and not being able to stay up past midnight.

I mean, we realize this is cranky hyperbole and not a weird, turn into a pumpkin at the stroke of midnight-version of insomnia, yes?

true story: my youngest sister called me one night when she was like 12. it was 6:30 and she was sobbing uncontrollably. she calmed down enough to let me know the reason why. it seems my mom was gone shopping or something, and my dad wanted to go to bed at like 6:00 so he told her she had to go to bed too. I was able to calm her down and remind her that he's a heavy sleeper so give it like 15 minutes then do whatever the horsefeathers you want.

the moral to my story is, I now think mojo might be my dad...

My most common thought when I see movie or a TV show or a news story or anything that's set in the middle of the night is, "my god, how is everyone not completely exhausted?" I am completely addicted to a full night's sleep now and I don't know what flipped the switch to the point that if I don't get at least 7 hours I am destroyed. I think back to how little I would sleep until I was, like, 35 and honestly have no idea how the horsefeathers I could operate at all.

I saw Pearl Jam in Wrigley Monday night, got to bed at 1, up by 4, on a plane by 6 and in the office by 10:30 and I've been paying for it all week.

And that used to be NOTHING, and now that sounds like a straight up nightmare. Threaten me with that and I'd confess to everything. I can't imagine actually being, like, 75, because I swear I'm already there.

Yea I can't go OUT out on weekdays. But laying on my couch watching baseball past midnight, nbd. I've gone to a couple weekday shows at Red Rocks (humblebrag) and I'm death the next day.

When I was in college I used to get wicked hammered. My nickname was puke. I would chug a fifth of socos, sneak into a frat party, polish off a few people's empties, some brewskies, some Jell-O shots, do some body shots off myself, pass out, wake up the next morning, puke, rally, more soco, head to class. Probably would have gotten expelled if I had let it affect my grades, but I aced all my courses. They called me Ace. It was totally awesome. Got straight B's. They called me Buzz.

I think I should get an uncomfortable couch. This one just pushes me in to sleep's sweet, sweet embrace.

See, I'm with you for the most part here, but I'm more likely to fall asleep on the couch on a weekend midday during a Cubs game than I am at night on the couch.

I'm not a good napper. I have trouble falling asleep when it's light out unless I'm just completely exhausted, and inevitably I feel like horsefeathers after a nap. Tried, headache, indigestion...I don't get it at all. Makes me feel like zombie for the rest of the day.

Gotta keep em short. 20 min or so tops. Beyond that...yeah...it can mess with you.

Naps are amazing, btw.

i'm in my early-mid 30's and still go out a lot, but i've been pro nap all my life. a nice nap after work/before going out is crucial.
