Is Cease close to getting shut down for the year? I would imagine he has a pretty low innings limit this year

I don't think so. 23 innings at extended spring training, 30.2 at Eugene. Including tomorrow, he probably has 3 more regular season starts and then maybe a playoff start. He's probably not topping 65 (including extended spring training) if he doesn't get shut down.

Brailyn Marquez gives up his first pro HR but also strikes out 6 in 4. That gives him a 22% K rate on the season so far (league at 18.something). That is a pretty solid start for a 17 YO 6'4" lefty that can already hit the lower 90s.

Paulino and him are the 2 lefties that excite me in the system. Carrera COULD, but he doesn't seem very projectable, maybe like that Rodriguez kid that was excellent early on in the DSL.....

Arguably the top 3 pitching prospects on the same day. Nice.

...Tseng...awesome!

Carson Sands is not good

He may be pouting about not starting. Not that it matters, his stuff seems to have regressed since we drafted him.

Collmenter, Tseng and Peralta are awesome!

Obviously I was referring to De La Cruz, Cease and Clifton and they did not disappoint pitching 15.2 innings allowing 9 hits, 1 run (earned), 6 BB, 23 Ks with 14 GO/2 AO.

But it actually turned out to be 5 of the better pitching prospects in the same day with Marquez and Carrera going as well. The Cubs haven't had 5 arms worthy of following in a while much less all throwing on the same day. When you add in their numbers:

26.1 IP, 17 H, 3 ER 8 BB, 33 K, 24 GO/2 AO.

Paredes back in the lineup for the AZL Cubs.

6 runs so far from Tennessee and Happ's 0-3. He's the only serious prospect in the lineup too. This is not a fun night for him.
