With the addition of Chapman not sure Montgomery belongs on the roster with Grimm and Edwards pitching well

You're probably right. I mean he's been very good this season, but his 1st two games as a Cub haven't gone very well, so we should just keep Clayton Richard instead. At least we know he's awful, so we won't be let down.

Not thinking Richard. How many will we have in the pen for the playoffs? 7?

Right now:

Chapman

Rondon

Strop

Grimm

Edwards

Wood

Remaining:

Richard

Nathan

Montgomery

Cahill

This might be me being a slave to defensive independent numbers, but I have Montgomery clearly ahead of Wood.

Ah, playoff roster. I see. In that case, Chapman, Rondon, and Strop are the only sure things. Beyond that, it's a tough call. But one thing that could earn Wood a spot over Montgomery is that fact that he doubles as a solid bat off the bench.

What a weird game; I was fine even when they were down 4-0 because I knew the White Sox' massive tire fire of a bullpen was waiting to get trounced, and that's exactly what happened. Then Joe had a series of small strokes or something and I went to bed unexpectedly sad.

Maddon said today that Strop (and Wood I think) was unavailable yesterday and he couldn't use Rondon beyond 3 outs. He thought the bullpen wasn't deep and his thought process was to have Szczur get that run and get Rondon in to close it, not worrying about Rizzo having another AB. Still wish he would've gone Rondon in the 9th instead of Montgomery.

I know he realizes that the game is in more peril when it's tied in the 9th inning on the road than when we have a lead. WTF JOE

Wonder why Strop was unavailable, his usage doesn't seem to dictate a dedicated day off.

Clearly Maddon is lying, as is the wont of people on the same team as Aroldis Chapman.
