According to Morosi, we're looking at him too

Has been pretty good offensively this year and has just graded out abysmally defensively to the point that he's been exactly replacement level.

This is why I'd be surprised if they were truly in on him, unless they feel Jason and Dexter can help him out a great deal in LF.

Soler gets on base more than Bruce. He's 24 and a better defender. I'm gonna say it every chance I get, unless there's a huge upgrade, let Jorge play. Get that bat going like it was in the month before his injury and we're back to Murderer's Row.

It's like they're trying to replace Kyle Schwarber 4 months later. I don't get it now that Contreras has come up and been a mainstay in the lineup and played a solid LF when not catching (which is most of the time at this point). Maybe the goal is to get Contreras behind the plate more permanently, but still at that point you're not leaving many ABs for LaStella (who's pretty good against RHPs) or Baez (who is dominant against LHPs). And that doesn't even get into Soler, who would probably have to be traded to even get the roster to the confusion I mentioned above. Not to mention the fact that Bruce/Reddick isn't enough of an upgrade for 2 months to justify getting rid of 4+ years of Soler, unless you're getting a hell of a pitcher in return.

I think it's pretty likely they ultimately want Contreras behind the plate, at least more often than not. They need a new primary catcher next season, and so far he seems better suited to that role than Schwarber.

Basically Soler is the odd man out in pretty much any equation, even if they don't bring back Fowler. Maybe not going for a rental OF is the best use of him, but I'm going to be pretty annoyed if they don't capitalize on what value he still has to upgrade somewhere this season.

Soler and lesser prospects for Miller?

He's still got what, 4-5 years left at a highly reasonable rate. Would be perfect for the Yankees....
