Patton & Almora optioned to Iowa; + Montgomery; Fowler back from DL

Cubs optioned RHP Spencer Patton to Triple-A Iowa.

 

Patton has posted a 5.11 ERA over nine relief appearances with the big club this season. He should get another shot later this summer.

 

Rotoworld didn't have a corresponding move. Dex off the DL maybe?

Almora showed enough in his call-up to convince me that he can be a plus defense/#8 hitter next year without killing the team with his bat. And given Contreras' emergence and Schwarber coming back, that's perfectly acceptable. And if they keep Soler, you still have a great 4 man outfield rotation (along with Bryant).
