I wish some of these guys would get to Arizona, but my guess is we're SOL until fall. Super encouraging early returns on some of them though.

Ian Happ has only struck out 5 times in 51 PA at AA.

Yeah, I bumped him up to my #2 prospect behind Willson.

I'm conflicted. I still have Gleyber above him. But it's closer than I ever thought it would be.

I like Eloy a lot, too. But I am more cautious with him. Maybe I am too inhospitable with him because visions of Jorge Soler are fresh in my mind. But there's just too much there that makes me a little more reserved: the BB/K rates, playing lower on the defensive spectrum, being at a lower level. I still really like Eloy and understand the potential is incredible -- the best in the system. But, I'll wait until next year to fully commit.

South Bend is facing Chris Paddack, the guy traded for Fernando Rodney, who refuses to give up base runners. He's struck out 4 in 2 innings, but he did give up a double to Andruw Monasterio, who has apparently been called up to South Bend.

Rice with an RBI single.......

No idea what to think about him. Obviously, the bat is exciting. But he's basically DH'ing. Lending to Arguello's reports from scouts saying he's got lots of work to do behind the plate, if he's even capable.

If he's a C, he's top 10. If he's a guy with no position, he's 20-30 probably.

So i sat behind Pierce Johnson at the sky sox game tonight as he was manning the gun and tracking pitches for the first three or four innings before the rain delay. I talked to him a little bit, he was very nice and very cool. He said he really liked his manager, trainer, and the rest of the organization. He told me Kawasaki is absolutely as fun to be around and play with as he seems. He was very complementary of the chemistry in triple AAA and in the big leagues. He said the mix of veterans that had been to majors were very helpful to the younger prospects and that people got a long very well. I asked him about his time in spring training with Jake Areitta and he said that Jake was awesome and that because Jake had struggled himself as a pitcher he was very willing to help others that might be struggling. He also made a point of saying that John Lackey was a great guy to be around in the club house. He was also excited to be pitching in Colorado he said this was the closest to home he has pitched since high school. I'm really hoping he has a great night tomorrow and that he puts it all together as a cub. He really seemed like a great guy.
