Red Sox Place Rusney Castillo On Outright Waivers

https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/06/red-sox-place-rusney-castillo-on-outright-waivers.html

I know this would be the exact opposite of a low risk, but is there still a high reward to be had? Are his issues something that can be fixed or is he a lost cause?

I could see any Chicago, New York, or LA team rolling the dice here.

If you are asking would any of those teams pick up his contract, I think there is 0 percent chance of that happening.

Not the entire contract (though I wouldn't put much past the LA teams or the White Sox at this point.) But a portion of it along with a moderate prospect return.

Seeing as the Red Sox are going to chow down on the bulk of his contract, perhaps something along the lines of Christian Villanueva, (whom once he's off the DL we're going to have to offer a roster spot we don't have or he can walk) plus a few million $s make it a bit easier for them to swallow while giving us a possible option to add to the 2017 OF mix, which other than Heyward has no sure things? Despite his noodle bat, his dWAR has kept him above water in the WAR department, so at least he could be a decent 4-5 OF. I know that being right handed, he'd be mostly redundant, but the FO has always had the policy of judging the player by potential value regardless of position.

Odubel Herrera is like a 5-win player now, Aledmys Diaz is hitting .300 and Willson Contreras is a clear star in the making, so it's hard to confidently shovel dirt on any player with talent a team publicly gives up on
