How aggressive do you guys who know think they will be with Happ? I know he's not a Bryant/Schwarber/Russell prospect but could he see AA by June?

he'll have to pick up the pace a lot to force that.

Then again, I hadn't looked at Happ's stats recently. He's already really picked things up. His line since the 0-8 to start the year... .347/.458/.571/1.029

Yeah I was going to respond to your comment about him having to pick it up for it to happen but got caught up in the actual Cubs game and forgot. His slash line looks mighty fine if he were to roughly keep it up until Juneish I'd think a promotion would be reasonable. At the same time the K% is high and it would be nice to see him drop that a bit before moving up

Rivero gave up his first walk this year in a two inning stint. He's been pretty good so far this year.

The K% is my concern with Happ, too. He's right around 25% and already young for his level. Plus, he's still pretty raw defensively at 2B. My guess is the Cubs will be happy to leave him in Myrtle Beach, let him settle in at 2B and try to cut down his Ks.

If (and that's a decent sized if) he improves those areas and is still hitting close to this well by the time he's nearing or around 300 PA (probably in July), that's the earliest I could see a promotion.

Current Ian Happ splits:

Right-handed: 1-13, .374 OPS

Left-handed: 18-47, 1.096 OPS

Early and very small samples. But interesting, and something to watch for as sample grows.
