Joe puts out his super lineup for the first time (unless you think putting Schwarber in LF and starting Miggy at C is better than Soler at LF and Schwarbs at C), and its not a home game nor is it on any TV or radio (including MLB.TV). He's trolling us!

The picture is too big to post from my phone, but Jorge looks just as pretty up close as you imagined. I'm sitting 2 feet from the Cubs dugout.

So is the prevailing thought that if Soler hits himself into the every day lineup, Montero is forced out?

No, that is not the prevailing thought.

They have gone over this before. They should be able to get everyone at least 500 PAs (i think it was 500) by:

-Giving each of them rest partially by having a very loose platoon (i.e. Heyward might get a rest day against a particularly difficult LHP, Fowler same against RHP), but also just building in off days.

-Schwarber will likely be assigned to primarily catch 1 pitcher (Hammel) and take most/all DH opportunities

-If Heyward or Fowler is sitting, Soler can shift to RF, with Heyward to CF if its Fowler that's sitting

There is no reason why Montero should need to be forced out of the lineup.

The only thing that worries me a little bit about that, and it's a completely irrational worry I'll admit, is the notion that guys like Soler and Fowler and whoever else sitting every few days might throw off whatever groove they might get in and they'll have trouble staying consistent. Like I said, it's irrational and there's no data that can support it, but it's something I worry about a little bit, but that's a very first world thing to be scared of. "Oh no, one of our potential all-stars might not be able to play well tomorrow because he's being sat in favor of one of our potential all-stars"

Rizzo almost killed me with that foul ball into the dugout in the first.

We cannot hear or see the game. You are our eyes and ears, man.

If gamecast is to be believed, Schwarber has picked off not one but two baserunners at first base. :stickman:

I saw someone tweet about one of them, one of your standard quick throws to first after a pitch that the Cubs have done so often in recent years.

They were both throws to first, one a traditional tag by Rizzo and the second he threw down and they got the guy in a rundown. He also made the play on Hamilton's SB a lot closer than it should have been with a great throw.

Man, if Schwarber can be at least passible at catcher the Cubs are going to be historic.
