I like Russell as much as the next guy, but if Javy can hit...

...it'll be great watching them both in the lineup at SS and 3B respectively?

I think I'd prefer Javy at SS, but it probably doesn't make that big of a difference.

So Bryant moves to the OF. Is Schwarber now a C-only guy? Or is he still in the mix? What about Soler? They are awesome problems to have but decisions will definitely need to be made this offseason.

Keep them all and let it be sorted out, there's plenty of ab's for everyone

maybe. if you look at Castro or Baez as a SS/2B/3B sub there could be plenty of AB for each of them. At some point, though, you have to weigh if having that type of player out-weighs the return you could get via trade from a team that would use them as their everyday position player.

I was kind of saying it for effect when I said "I have no idea what to do with all these amazing infielders". To highlight how good of a "problem" it is to have. Part of it genuine, for sure.

NICE!

I kinda want to trade Schwarber.

And it has nothing to do with him being a little cold right now. I don't think him being in the OF is the best option long term, and I'm kinda bummed that if he's a catcher it means you automatically get him in the lineup significantly less than if he were playing another position.

I guess I'm just not opposed to the idea of trading him for something insane. And it would have to be something insane to justify it in the first place. Buuuuuuuuuuuuuut, if he was the centerpiece in a deal to net someone like Stanton?

Yeah it's a great problem to have and great to say facetiously. Someone laid it out nicely recently, there really isn't a problem and you can pretty easily get everyone 400+ ab's at least on the low side.

I don't care if there's any substance in the argument, I want to gut you right now.

So then you want to trade both Schwarber and Soler? Not that I'm I'm saying it comes to a decision between Soler and Stanton (of course it wouldn't), but then you also have to factor in Soler's value and what you can get for him. Again, not saying I'm shooting down the possibility altogether or anything, just that it's complex. Luckily I feel like Theo et al. is the perfect group to figure all of this out /Brett

OK then. And you may be right and that may be the best call. And honestly I hope it is, because I love this damn team a ton and I'd hate to see any of them get traded. But again, a "super sub" for the Cubs has a certain value. A solid/stud SS for another team is going to have a LOT more value. You have to factor that in and weigh your options.

Yeah, that's the pairing I was thinking of; though I don't know enough about what Stanton is going through with that hand of his to know if that would be too risky. I thought he was only supposed to be out through, like, July, but he still hasn't come back and is dealing with complications from scar tissue. But man, he was just obscene before he went down.

Schwarber as a main piece in a deal for Brantley and Kluber?? That's insane and I agree, it needs to be something insane
