That Soler home run made me [expletive] giddy. Cruise into the postseason with a fixed Castro and a reborn Soler AND Baez and watch the scum topple over.

1 game playoff

Yes, that is part of the postseason they will cruise into.

I mean, seriously, we went out and got Austin Jackson because we thought our depth was lacking -- which it was. And now Javy, Jorge, and Starlin are all mashing. And Rat Boy is healthy and producing.

Haha, yeah. Even without the "depth" need I still really like having Jackson around for defense late in games with 2 of Schwarber/Coghlan/Soler likely starting every playoff game.

Oh yeah, no doubt. I still like the pick-up. But, at the time, I was thinking of him more as possibly being one of our starters in the playoffs, and if not, at least as a platoon option with Coghlan. Now he is an afterthought, relegated to playing defense for an inning or two.

i have confidence in the team to not lose 4 games out of 7 against any team in the majors at this point, but something weird will happen to keep us out of the NLDS

All of these bats, besides Fowler (and Jackson and Denorfia, if they count) are under control for next year, too. It's just an overload of dongs and other assorted awesomeness.

It's like, I don't want to trade any of them this offseason, because I'd hate to watch them be awesome somewhere else...but we just won't have spots for everyone.

The good thing about this is that, if we do trade them, it will be for guys that are equally awesome and happen to pitch or play a different position.

It'll be too busy grabbing for dongs.

unacceptable. you have two hands.

Remember when Donnie Murphy was the best player in the league for like 2 weeks? Good times.

remember when joe mather was on the cubs

with so many dongs, i wouldn't need any hands to hold. i don't think there will be that many dongs.

I just want us to score 8 runs in the first inning of the Wild Card game so I can kick back and bask in the anticipation of trouncing the Cardinals in the NLDS.

Man, No. 4 is a hot mess for former Cubs.

Chris Valaika (2014)

Joey Gathright (2009)

Ryan Freel (2009)

Eric Patterson (2008)

Rob Bowen (2007)

Scott Moore (2007)

Freddie Bynum (2006)

Ben Grieve (2005)

Jason Dubois (2004-2005)

Doug Glanville (2003)

Jeff Blauser (1998-1999)

EDIT: No. 2 and No. 3 aren't much better.

Yeah, I really hated Ross at the start of the year, mainly because I hated the whole personal catcher thing, and how it ruined having a L/R platoon that we could use behind the plate. And he is a terrible hitter. But, he's been fantastic defensively. And once Castillo was dealt, the playing time at catcher hasn't been much of an issue. I mean, I would still prefer him to be on the weak side of a platoon, rather than a personal catcher, but whatever. Also, he seems like a cool dude. His teammates have been effusive in their praise of him. I'm not sure there is any value in having good clubhouse chemistry or being a good "clubhouse guy." But, at the same time, give me the cool, old guy that is willing to help out the young guys and can command their respect over the selfish [expletive] that doesn't give a [expletive] about anyone else, all day and every day. It might not help us, but it certainly isn't making us worse. At the very least, it's like having another coach on the staff. And hopefully he imparts some knowledge on Schwarber, if he were to move back behind the plate.
