WHAT HAPPENED?!?

Slow grounder to 2B, the runner at 1B stopped to avoid being tagged out. Castro went to 1B for the out, then Montero threw back to get the stopped runner in a rundown... Meanwhile the first run scored and 2nd runner came around third, so the Cubs threw home and got him in a rundown and eventually tagged him out.

Hopefully that made sense.

Why didn't they try for the 4-6-3 DP?

The ball was hit pretty slowly and Polanco was running.

ESPN didn't acknowledge the run counting nor do most of the fans know. Score this inning or we lose.

slow grounder. out at first. tying run scored. got man at third (go-ahead run) in a rundown and tagged him out. part of me is pissed. part of me is happy they got out with only the one run. all of me is conflicted.

I'll take it!

I'm so glad we gave up both runs on defensive blunders.

It wasn't a blunder.

I'm going to be less of a meatball for once and say this game could go either way.

that's still pessimistic. say the cubs will win. it's called optimism. it's good not only for baseball but also for life in general.

Sucks we put in LHP specialists in with Denofria and Jackson. Now we have 2 hitters on the wrong side of the platoon hitting in a critical inning

Russell is steadier, but Baez' instincts and natural ability are scary good.

What a great problem to have. Russell is a gloriously smooth SS, but you could make the case you're better off with Baez at short and him at 2nd because of the arm. Then again, Baez looks like a Gold Glover at third.
