Ahh, I forgot how unbearable these game threads are.

Blah started the month 12-1. Since then 6-7 unless we come back tonight

It's great that Lester can throw 6+ solid innings and all, but if there's anyone that thinks teams taking free bases on him isn't going to be a huge problem in the playoffs, they're delusional.

 

This is painfully true. It's mind boggling how a pitcher so good can have such an Achilles heel.

 

He gave up one stolen base this inning(that was 100% on Montero), and that runner still required 2 singles to score.

 

And it was enough to get him nice and rattled.

Before this roadtrip, the Pirates were catchable, the Cardinals weren't. But it's pretty clear the Pirates are a lot better than the Cubs and they're not going to collapse at any point.

I've had a bad week personally and the Cubs have not made it better for me.

 

Still in good shape, I feel like the west coast just threw us off. 17 games in Chicago with great hitting conditions. Kept it hot the first game of the trip and then all the sudden they went quiet against Peavy, couldn't get anything going against the 2 aces and now it feels like it's carried onto tonight.

I think a lot of people are bemoaning a consistent issue that has plagued him all year (and beyond. Teams just didn't press the issue as much for whatever reason) and teams are only going to further exploit in the future unless he does something about it.

It's a known weakness. So yeah, they're sure as hell going to try early; and if it works, often.
