Schilling was just on TV and said the Giants are going for the division because of how tough that WC game can be. Riiiiight, that's why they're aiming for the division.

 

But I could see them overtaking the Dodgers. San Francisco's September schedule isn't that tough.

Umm, no. The Giants wild card hopes are all but dead. And have you not noticed all the donging going on? To be worried about that team, with that pitching staff, when they are 5.5 games back is silly.

Looks impossible now but they go out and sweep us at home this week and they're right back in it.

The Giants now have pretty much the same chance at a wild card that we have at catching the Cardinals.

 

And it'll probably be worse/close to even after tonight (hope not, though).

Well, they would still be trailing by 1.5 games, even if they come back tonight and we lose tomorrow, and then they swept us. And we literally just handed their asses to them two weeks ago. And one of the match-ups is Matt Cain vs. Jake Arrieta. And did I mention the dongs? And if they did all of that, they would most likely pass the Dodgers at that point. And even then, their pitching staff still sucks, and did I mention the dongs?

It might be just this game - though I'm guessing not because he leads either the NL or MLB 1B in errors - but Alvarez is terrible defensively. Didn't come close to a popular behind first, then dropped a throw to first and now had a hard grounder go right through his legs. The first two led to the first Giants run and the third led to the second.

Another thing not being mentioned when the Giants deficit to us is brought up is that I'm pretty sure we sealed the tie breaker (which I'm assuming is head to head but maybe baseball has some stupid other thing) by sweeping the first 4.
