That small home field advantage in one game might be small enough not to matter like at all

Whereas the chances of winning the division from 8.5 back are large enough to definitely matter?

not really since whether you're 5% to win it or 10%, you're pretty unlikely to not do it, but it's not a no brainer IMO

either way i already said i was rooting for stl because i just want to be in 2nd place and i want a home one game playoff to go to

The Cardinals would literally have to gag down the stretch and the Cubs would need to continue playing dominant baseball. The odds of that happening are slim at best.

That's not the point.

And if the Cards had lost/lose those very games we're talking about, how much gagging would they really have had to do? Unlikely? Yes. Unheard of? Far from it. And much more helpful toward our chances of winning a championship.

Blowing an 8.5 game lead in less than 2 months would be historic gag status. It's the Cardinals, it's not happening. They're going to win 105 games and we just have to accept it.

can't you say serious things instead of crap like this

and it would barely be historic status. ffs the yankees just did it in like 2 weeks. how many games did the cubs just swing on the giants?

it happens. it's not easy and not likely but it happens enough to matter. especially when we have 6 or 7 h2h games left with them.

Please take that loser talk elsewhere.

I was on my way home from work at the end of the 9th, and as soon as the Brewers tied I gunned it because I knew the Cubs were gonna win this in extras. Montero hits it out literally between me turning off my car in the garage and running into the house to find them celebrating. DAMN MY TIMING.

Didn't the Yanks just blow like an 8 game lead in a week? I'm not even sure but it feels like it.

The Blue Jays just erased an 8 game deficit in 2 weeks. Cardinals are better than the Yankees but it can be done

Edit: David beat me. But seriously July 29 the Blue jays were in 4th place and 8 GB. Tonight they are 0.5 games up

I feel Sofa has the right kind of mindset these past few weeks. If we are going to win a World Series, we need to have the Sofa-type swag from some of you.

You're the "if you were betting on one of the playoff teams to win the world series, would you really pick the cubs?" Guy

I remember when the Cubs were 56-47 I was hoping the Cubs would get to 60 wins before they lost 50. They're 64-48 now lol

Fun times

If the Cubs play .500 ball the rest of the year they will finish 89-73. That would be tied for their second best record in the last 26 years (I'm counting 1998 as 89-73 with a playoff win because it makes the stat look cooler).
