Pirates lose

Eh. I think I wanted them to win? We're so far ahead in the second WC now that I'd rather see the Pirates make the division close and have to fight to the last day than see the home field or second spot come into play for us.

I guess I don't care because we're talking about playoff scenarios and the Cubs have entered Magical Christmas Land and everything is beautiful.

i said earlier that i should be rooting for the pirates to win those games but idc because i irrationally want the improved aesthetic of being in 2nd

it's annoying being awesome and being in 3rd place

also while a home game isn't that helpful, it's much cooler if you can go to it

Winning the WS as the first third-place team to ever make the playoffs would be pretty sweet.

You 100% want the Cardinals to win and get home field in that Wild Card game

THIS.

The Pirates are not the same team on the road!

And Bryant hits more dongs at Wrigley.

Home field is not nearly as impactful as catching the Cardinals would be. Catching the Cardinals would double our odds of success. Literally double. Getting a home game vs a road game barely moves the needle.

Man, the top of the 9th against the Rockies after the Phillies series and before the Bryant walk-off seems like a lifetime ago.

But getting that small home field advantage is like 8 times more likely than catching the Cardinals.

I was more thinking I want the Pirates to get back into the division and have to play down to the last day.

The Cardinals would literally have to gag down the stretch and the Cubs would need to continue playing dominant baseball. The odds of that happening are slim at best.

To further expand on this, BP has the Cubs at 5.2% to win the world series and the Pirates at 3.6% (before today), this despite them still having the Pirates finishing ahead of the Cubs and therefore in the 1st wild card.

That's not the point.

And if the Cards had lost/lose those very games we're talking about, how much gagging would they really have had to do? Unlikely? Yes. Unheard of? Far from it. And much more helpful toward our chances of winning a championship.

Wait. Did Hendricks pitch.....when the [expletive] did Hendricks last pitch?

Rotation got tweaked after Lester's rainout start in Pittsburgh. Hendricks pitched Saturday goes Friday next

Brewers announcers were still talking about Montero not blocking the slider after the game was over. lulz

I was stuck all night with TWC having to listen to those jacks. They are HORRIBLE. Their play by play game especially. Brian Anderson? Just horrible in every regard. He knew nothing about the Cubs. I know it isn't his job to know a lot about the Cubs, but he should have and could have been a million times better. Will have to watch from my phone tomorrow so at least I'll get the option and for sure will get Len and JD, but those guys are really bad for Milwaukee. What a game!!!

If we give "Winning the WS" a value of 1000, the value I'd place on doing it as the first third place team to ever make the playoffs would probably be below 1.

That small home field advantage in one game might be small enough not to matter like at all
