Released CB Tim Jennings counts $6.75M against the Bears' 2015 cap. That's $1.5M more than if he would have made the team.

Good, Tim Jennings sucks. Not that anyone behind him is better.

Alan Ball is actually really underrated.

Paying Jennings to go away? Wow. Figured he was in trouble after his DUI but they didn't exactly go out and emphasize the CB position in free agency or the draft.

Yea that's a little surprising. It frees up extra for 2016 though. I've watched almost no preseason- did he not look good at all?

Mundy had already lost his starting job and was in danger of being cut as it was, so this nor Jennings is a big deal.

Also interesting that Mundy went from "close to returning" to IR in a span where he wasn't practicing/playing. I assume this is the Bears sparing themselves a cap hit/penalty that would have come from releasing him outright.

Looks like Al Louis-Jean is the only other somewhat notable cut.

I don't know that he's practiced enough to "lose" his job, but yeah they seemed to have no interest in starting him if he was healthy.

The most experienced as a Bear in the secondary is Sherrick McManis. If you take into account the fact that he's played maybe 50 plays on D the last 4 years, Kyle Fuller has the most snaps of the DBs in a Bears uniform.

This is going to be a very inexperienced defense. Starting FS will either be a rookie or a 2nd year player. DL will be a rookie, 2nd year man, with a couple other 2nd year guys getting a ton of time. ILBs will be a 2nd year man and a guy playing the position for the 1st time.

Fox implied that Long could see time at RT today during his media session. Saying that he wants guys to have practiced there, and that Long has practiced there plenty.

Broncos traded their swing OT, Clark for a 7th round pick. No reason the Bears shouldn't have been in on that, especially with the Fox/Gase connection.

The thing about moving Long to RT, is that then your RG will likely suck. It would be one thing if they went out and got Evan Mathis, who was on the market a few days ago to play RG. But if Long is at RT, you're still looking at Mills, Leno, or someone worse at RG.

Isn't that an easier position to play and the likelihood of being a disaster there a whole lot less than at RT? I guess I feel like the fact that Long is looked at as a legitimate option to be good out there and one of those other guys can be decent/league average at RG, you're probably at a net gain overall right?

IDK. Is average + average > elite + terrible? Hard to tell.

Is it really dumb to want the Bears to take a flier on RG3? With the right coaching and better personnel I think he could work out of his issues.

I'd do it, but i'm not sure if he has 16 mil on his deal for next year. I really really like him.

I despise him and would stop watching the Bears for however long it was.

I'm so apathetic towards football at this point they could hire Terry Bradshaw to QB and I'd probably be fine with it.

Seems very debatable that the Bears have either.

Not so, as far as the coaching staff goes. Jay Gruden is awful. I would also argue that as bad as our Oline looks so far, it's still better then the Skins Oline.
