Give us some white-on-white away uniforms, you goons.

IIRC, it was Urlacher who liked using those and they haven't been used since the @GB game in 09 when he got hurt and Cutler threw 4 picks in his debut.

I miss them.

Eh they're nice, but unless they made it the full time road uniform they'd be burning up their alternate uses instead of the cool throwback ones.

Do they have a limit on that just for switching pants? They should be full time then.

Didn't they have other alternates in 09 when they switched from white pants to blue pants on the road? Or those years when they dropped in the blue pants with the home jerseys as well? The orange ones were already alternates those years, right? Or did the rules change since?

The Bears haven't won less than 4 games my entire life, and the 1997-2000, 2002 teams were far worse than this one.

I'd honestly set the over/under at 7.

If we had more talent on defense I'd be willing to say more...and I actually feel like they'll be better than that because even without adding much talent on D, Tucker to Fangio is a massive upgrade. I've said this before, but if you think coaching matters at all (and I think most agree that it matters a good amount in the NFL), I don't see how you can go from that staff to this one and not expect substantial (not saying huge) improvement from that part alone.

I think any uniform variation, including pants, is an alternate. And you get two alternates.

So was that a recent change?

Because in 09 they went from white on white in the first road game to white and blue the rest of them, while still having their two orange jersey games (I think).

alrighty i must have blacked out

You are probably thinking about the 2008 game in Atlanta (aka the squib kick game). I believe they wore white on white for every road game that season.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/11464262/college-nfl-differ-widely-uniform-culture

this story is from 2014.

1. The five-year rule. NFL rules allow teams to change their uniforms only once in a five-year period (and of course some teams have opted to stick with the same look for much longer than that), which imposes at least a modicum of visual stability on the league. The NCAA has no such rule, which allows for an ever-changing cavalcade of uni designs.

2. The "only one alternate" rule. NFL rules allow a team to wear only one alternate or throwback uniform per season, so a team is effectively limited to a maximum of three jerseys in a given year. There are plenty of college teams that will have worn more jerseys than that by the first week of October, because the NCAA has no cap on uniform designs.

How the Bears can going 3-13 (most of these things have to come true):

1) Bears start out 1-4 (win over Oakland, losses to GB, Ari, Seattle, KC)

2) Defense has a hard time adjusting to 3-4, gets beat up the first half of the season or longer

3) Kevin White doesn't play much or doesn't play enough in preseason/early to become WR2, Marquess Wilson is WR#2 for most of the year

4) Jay Cutler misses multiple games as tends to happen most years

5) Offensive line injuries ruin the cohesion yet again

6) Matt Forte injury

All that said, I feel like its rare that a coaching staff as talented on paper as the Bears loses 13 games in a season. They may not be good, but good coaching will greatly help you avoid a dumpster fire of a season.

So the second one only specifically calls out jerseys in the wording of the limitation...but it's still gray because of the "only one alternate or throwback uniform"

USA Today predicting the Bears to have the worst record in the NFL at 3-13.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2015/08/04/record-projections-super-bowl-50-packers-colts/30985171/

I would bet so much money on the over. This is such a strange prediction to me.

Yeah, I get it if you predict a losing record with a complete change in defensive scheme with a team that had one of the worst defenses in the league, a QB that 98% of the world hates, trading your big name WR and an entirely new coaching staff.

I'd go ahead and bet a decent amount of money the Bears have a better record than the 9ers, who this idiot predicted to win 2 more games than the Bears. The Bears still have Cutler, Forte, Jeffery and Bennett on offense, and those 4 guys can put points on the board.

I think you're correct that the bears talent and much-improved coaching increases the floor to 6 wins, but the greatest concern is the lack of depth up and down the roster. QB, RB, OL, WR are of great concern with respect to depth and we already know how potentially fragile the defense is, front-line talent and depth, respectively.

You can always point to how injuries can derail a season, but as much i hate saying it, the packers always find quality depth that prevents a total season meltdown. Cobb goes down, some steps up, Raji goes down, someone steps up, etc. The bears haven't had that luxury for years

Urlacher and Kreutz took in practice today. Olin's slimmed down quite a bit from his playing days.

Good to see both their estrangements from the team are over

Urlacher's still a petty jerk.
