I like this site better than the other options such as Cubs.com or the local radio show forums because there aren't many 16 year old trolls. At least here most of the people are truly cubs fans! That said if the intention of this site is to have a closed discussion than you need to ban everyone who doesn't offer what you want to see!!!! (myself included) Set the site to invite only or make people apply and show that they meet your "elite baseball knowledge" requirements in order to participate. If you don't do something like that, than your always gonna get more people like me, who are passionate cubs fans but ARE NOT PRO SCOUTS or industry insider. If the people who moderate and created the site such as Tim and friends want the intention for this place to be exclusive than take the necessary measure to do so.

For crying out loud at least make a global sticky thread about your expectations for people who start threads and make comments.

Another option is make all besides the game threads "read only" meaning people who do not get approval cannot post there...

Of course the game thread is the game thread right? Thats where the fellow cubs fans talk about the game.!!!!

For the sake of god dont poison your own site by constantly displaying reckless bigotry to people who are new around here.

It's not about people who are new. It's about posters who suck. We have old and new ones of those.

And there are some good new posters too. But most new posters will suck because most people suck.

This is the perfect example of what im talking about here

Additional: Its really wise of you to judge if people suck or not based on an online forum. You have no idea who most people are in the physical world.

Just think before you post. Deadspin used to have two rules for posting, " Be funny. Dont be unfunny." Same idea applies here. Post meaningful content that will encourage discussion. Dont post meaningless crap.

So before you hit post, go back, re-read what you wrote, and make sure its worthwhile.

And that is not to single you out specifically, but applies to all posters, new and old.

Then someone needs to make a sticky thread that all people see from jumpstreet!

I don't care what they're like in real life. I will likely never meet them in real life.

What matters on an online forum is if and that they suck on an online forum.

There needs to be a sticky to stop people from posting nonsense?

There needs to be a sticky about the forum rules. That would include examples of what is determined to be nonsense by the collective forum gods.

Somehow I have a feeling that wont make a difference. Most people probably dont realize their posts suck until they are specifically told.

As a hypothetical, if such a sticky thread existed, do you think that upon seeing that sticky people will all of a sudden start posting better content, or they would just see it and never post at all?

probably a lot of people would not post.

There should be signs on the road that tell people not to crash.

And therein lies the rub. We want more posters, but we want quality posters. If we discouraged people from posting from the get go, then we might lose out on some of those quality posters.

For the record, I dont have a problem with most of the things that have been posted here recently. Its not always possible to figure out what is going to foster a good discussion or not, so I think some volume is good for the site. Hell, some of the best threads have probably started out as pure garbage. The real problem, as has been pointed out by some other posters, is that some of you people are just too damn negative. Its ok to be pissed when something bad happens, or start a new thread about troubling patterns with player stats, but the freaking out from a 1st inning single is just a little too much for me.

If that is what is wanted than as the tread title states it should be a members only forum! meaning you have to apply or get invited!

If you hate it here so much, just leave

its not that i hate it here... more the opposite people hate me here lol

My suggestion to you would be to cut back on the amount of posts for the next couple months, take a step back, and observe the general tone of the board. This will give you a better idea of what constitutes a good post or not. Think of it like being a AAAA player that shuttles between Iowa and Chicago. You can be our Matt Sczcur. And for September call ups, you will be ready to give a positive contribution.

No, people are annoyed that you showed up, threads a-blazin', before taking time to learn what NSBB was all about. Then, when posters voiced their annoyances, you upped the volume rather than stepping back and figuring out why they were annoyed
