Man, Fowler has kinda sucked in both May and June.

Can't be certain because until this year I obviously have never watched him hit on a nearly daily basis, but I've speculated he might be nursing some sort of minor hand/wrist injury that's affecting him for some time now. He is taking awkward swings and his bottom hand seems to come off the bat a lot, which is weird. But he's a long/big dude so it could just be a prolonged struggle and he might just look extra awkward when he's off.

 

He's walking a lot less, too. I was really hoping the Cubs were getting a guy who kept on getting on base at a good clip.

Yeah, same. Figured even when he wasn't hitting he'd still be taking walks. He's walking at nearly the lowest rate of his career at any stop (his rookie year at A ball for the Rockies 9.4% there vs 9.6% this year) he has seen significant PAs.

Back up for a week until we get four more against the Cardinals in a week.

 

That said, we've got 23 of our next 30 games against teams under .500 including 20 straight starting right after that Cards series (CHW, Atl, Cincy, Philly, Col, Mil), and 33 of 49. Hopefully they can start to turn it around against the Mets and Marlins this week, get 2 games from St. Louis and then go on a nice run in July.
