Kinda surprised it's Medina. There's no obvious alternative, but Rivero, Britton, and Edwards are all in better recent form.

Medina was already on the 40-man roster.

Last night was the perfect time to use him. Essentially an off day for the bullpen. (And extra batting practice for the hitters)

Last year they said he was throwing 95 and now he's around 92 consistently. That scares me for a guy who doesn't have more than 2 pitches. He throws a what used to be good fastball but now isn't much more than average, and he throws an an average-above average slider. I don't see him being a key to the bullpen, but more just a patch. I believe they sent him to AAA hoping he'd find that velocity back.
