Which teams?

[expletive] if I know. Those with particularly weak systems. But he may very well been for us when Theo first took over, and I'm sure there are some systems out there in a similar condition. Milwaukee and Detroit come to mind.

you actually could craft an argument with Tigers system, it's just complete utter trash...they'd maybe hold onto Ziomek and possibly Farmer in talks? Derek Hill and Moya might have nice tools but they simply just can't hit

Brewers you can't do this with; Arcia, Coulter, Lopez, Medeiros beat him out in all likelihood

it's probably fair to wonder if he's in our top 10:

Schwarbs

McKinney

Torres

Underwood

Almora

Carl Sjunior

Eloy

Pierce Johnson

Black

Tseng

Villanueva??

Villanueva with a HR. Giving his age, level, and position, I have to think that he'd be a top 3 prospect in more than just a few farm systems.

Despite not being anywhere near a top 100 prospect?

I meant in several teams' farm systems. Not overall.

It's possible you could make a case at the back end, namely, a Detroit or Marlins perhaps, but you'd have to completely buy the idea that his hit tool has really jumped. His power production is likely a byproduct of being in the PCL, because even thought most acknowledge that he has gone from a guy with average power to a guy with a tick above average power, it's certainly hard to buy that he suddenly has plus power.

If his hit tool is legitimately improved, and an "average" 50 type tool now, then sure ... Villanueva becomes a fairly enticing asset, a good defender at 3rd, with an average hit tool and average power. 3rd base is still a relatively weak position, so he'd be fairly enticing if that hit tool is legitimately improved.

23% CS rate, -5 Rtot/yr, but piazza was a superstar (albeit PEDmonster)

This thing where people assume Piazza took PED's is tiresome.

But doesn't the same go for pretty every relevant player between 1990-2005 not named Greg Maddux?

Unless, of course he's referring to the other kind of PEDmonster, in which case the list is narrowed to Mel Hall.

Did every relevant player not named Greg Maddux have back acne, too? Because Mike Piazza did, so PEDmonster he is!!!!

you guys forget griffey jr prolly the best non cheater hitter of that era

I'd throw in Gwynn too. His belly alone was evidence he didn't juice.

villanueva has been making a lot of errors this year, which is weird because his defense is supposed to be a strong point. i agree that he's still got a future as a matt dominguez type (hopefully with a better bat than the wet noodle that dominguez swings) if his defense can be a plus.
