@csnmooney Baez: "We're just waiting for Bryant now."

What do we do with Russell then?

Ohh right.

It may be the bourbon talking right now, but if you could have 5 guys (Stanton, Rizzo, Baez, Soler, and Bryant) who can hit 40 homers and another guy (Schwarber) hit 30 homers, it would be the most potent lineup... ever? Add in a 200 hit guy (Castro) and a potential 20 homer CF (Konami), and things just get silly.

again, stanton isn't even necessary for the absurdity you speak of. it's already going to be absurd. obviously adding stanton to that is amazing.

oh, and then remember the depressed offensive environment we're in to really put things in perspective.

this would be like a blake street bombers lineup except guys can play defense and we dont play in coors field in the middle of the steroid era

I said this a month ago but aside from having a Lofton type leadoff hitter, the Cubs have the potential to rival the mid 90's Indians offense.

Also, I know the consensus is Bryant will be called up early next season, but is there zero chance he gets caled up when rosters expand? I want to see him in the big leagues right [expletive] now.

Schwarbers approach/BB% might make him the best candidate for the leadoff spot if we are talking about the all home grown lineup.

But instead of an end-of-career Charlie Hayes, over-the-hill Andres Galarraga, prime Larry Walker, and out-of-his-mind Dante Bichette, the Cubs would have a prime Stanton and 5 others who are under 26 years of age. Holy [expletive].

Stanton will cost Russell at a minimum. If we get him, great. If not, we add Russell to this bananas core of hitters. Smiling ear to ear either way.

Or maybe just wait until Stanton is a FA, sign him for $35M/year and add him to the ridiculous lineup which includes Russell.

Yeah, I'm totally fine not trading any assets for a bat, even Stanton.

Just sign some pitchers with all the available money and start winning a [expletive] of games.

The truth is, if it costs something like Russell, Almora, and Johnson, I'm neither for nor against getting Stanton.

@dgoold: Home runs are too easy. Offense should have to be earned through the sweat of the brow, the advancement of runners. That's real offense.

ahaha that was a little more aggressively trollish than i intended but that'll work

Yeah, that makes us look like [expletive]. Wait till next year when we're six games in front of them before we troll them.

Don't care. I live here and have to deal with their clown asses all the time. I'm giving them everything I've got until it's not fun anymore and they all cry in their beers.

haha the fairly classy response makes it look even worse

Either that is impressively sarcastic, or extremely jealous. Either way, the butthurt will flow strongly through the NL Central for a long time.

Same, and I'm super Pro-Stanton. This potential offense is just so [expletive] good that I really don't care if we do or don't get Stanton. Obviously I want him, but if they can't get him oh well boo hoo a million dongs with or without him.

Agreed. I, unrealistically, wish we could do a quantity trade for him with Almora as the centerpiece so we could keep all the awesome guys. Something like Almora, McKinney, Pierce, Jimenez or Torres, and Vogelbach.

Neshek had allowed 26 H and 5 R in 55 1/3 innings this year. We got 4 H and 4 R in 2/3 of an inning.
