I had this voice in my head (not that frequent, actually) that Castro was going to get moved.

If that were true, why would we have just moved Javy off of SS?

Russell

Not that it's true

Yeah, I mean I can see Castro getting moved in a year or two, but not until Russell is ready. So I don't think a Castro move will be any time soon, but in all fairness, I cant hear the voice so I cant speak to its believability.

Bryant is hitting .344/.417/.760/1.177 at Iowa. He has the highest OPS of any full-season player by over 50 points (Gallo).

Also of note, Schwarber's full-season OPS after tonight is 1.062.

Not countoing Soler's non-qualifying OPS of infinity

I know the whole "he's only 19" thing, but I wonder if they're considering promoting him.

It's not just that he's 19 but that he's 19 in his first year in a foreign country.

That said, I'd get him to Daytona next month for at least three starts.

it's too bad they're not making the playoffs.

Daytona has a chance to make the playoffs thanks to their play in the second half.

oh yeah, I always forget about the second half thing in the minors

I've only ever concerned myself with MiLB box scores, never standings/playoff implications. Anyone interested in educating me?

Most leagues have their first half division winner and second half division winner make the playoffs (some have additional wild card playoff berths too).

And the D-Cubs are currently a half game out of first in the FSL North in the 2nd half.

The format provides that four (4) teams will participate in the Florida State League playoffs. Winners of both halves within the Division play each other in a best-of-three series for the Division Championship. The first half winners will be given the choice of hosting game 1 or games 2 & 3 and must notify the League office by August 1, of their decision.

In the event of a repeat Division winner, the team with the next best overall record in the Division will qualify for the playoffs as a Wild Card team.

Jen-Ho Tseng is 19 years old and has only made a baker's dozen appearances at Class A. That's not stopping some in the Cubs organization from thinking he could be in Chicago by 2016.

"I feel that he's looking like a guy that might be able to reach the big leagues at a young age," Kane County pitching coach David Rosario said. "I won't be surprised if he's in the big leagues at the age of 21, 22."

...

"He's a young kid that has a great [temperament]. He competes really well," Rosario said. "In today's game, he was able to pound the zone down and work in and out with his fastball and combine that with his changeup extremely well. He was able to execute some really good sequences."

...

The organization has been cautious with the 19-year-old, giving him about a month off in May after he struggled to get comfortable in unusually cold temperatures.

Aside from the early hiccup, Tseng has maintained his stuff and velocity well. He threw about 65 pitches on Friday but would've gone longer if Cubs right-hander Kyuji Fukikawa wasn't with Kane County on a rehab assignment -- the Japanese reliever allowed an unearned run while fanning two batters in the seventh.

Beyond his on-field work, Tseng has impressed the Cubs with his stateside adjustment.

"Especially with him coming from overseas, he's been really good," Rosario said. "He's learning English real quick from Spring Training to today. He loves communicating with his teammates."

As for the on-field stuff, Rosario thinks Tseng needs to improve reading hitters and sharpening his command but considers him advanced in just about all stages, considering his age. Rosario said that's at least a partial credit to his international experience.
