I'm happy with the development of Rizzo and Castro to start the year but this guy is just the [expletive] worst. Between his horrendous bullpen management to his inexplicable bunting to his desire to sit our young guys.

platooning is fine. lake and olt can start everyday when they press the issue.

dumbass bunting and getting thrown out stealing are not fine. i'm honestly surprised that theo and co. would hire someone who would do this stuff.

This is a good thing.

I like that he's willing to play the matchups in terms of lineup like he does. I like that he's a positive guy, which I feel is key with all these young players coming through. I like the fact that he's at least got a reputation of being a pretty good player development guy.

Just please, Theo or Jed, PLEASE tell him to tone down the bunting.

And make all those idiot players stop trying bunt singles.

Platooning is awesome. Lake is terrible.

I don't even care about the bunts thing I guess because it honestly isn't that much difference. Until you get down to measuring like hundredths of a run per successful bunt, it's essentially a neutral play.

This is a thread for the bad things. In case you're confused, which it seems you are.

I'd rather just start the season by platooning our castoffs and actually giving the higher ceiling guys a chance to sink or swim, as the big leagues are the final step in player development.

This. If you don't think Olt can be an every day player, just say so and go look for the next 3B.

I don't mind it with fringy players, but the idea that a core player gets to the majors and suddenly can only hit one type of pitching is absurd.

Olt isn't healthy so your platoon call on him is premature. It may end up being the case, but calling it that right now is incorrect.

He's magically healthy enough to face lefties but too ouchy to play against righties?

No, too ouchy to play every day. It's in print somewhere. You did notice he got pulled from the game after his hit last night because he tweaked the shoulder diving back to 1st base right?

WHY HAVE A BUNTING COMPETITION IF WE SHOULDN'T BUNT

We didn't have a bunting competition...

He was hired to develop the players. Winning games is just icing on the cake.

*SIGH*

Well if he's that good of a manager that we'd be 7-3 if not for some untimely sacrifice bunting and bad pitch framing by Castillo I'd say he's doing a great job.

No, not buying that. If that were the case then they could have just kept Sveum.

What?

They fired Sveum because they felt he was shitty at developing players. And almost everything they said about Renteria had to do with how they thought he'd do developing young players.

That's not to say anything of Heisenberg's post overall.
