All-Star selections are tomorrow...who makes it from the Cubs? Samardzija? Wood? Gregg? Schierholz?

I'd say Wood and nobody else.

I can't imagine the Cubs get more than 1, and like David said, Wood is clearly the most deserving (peripherals or not).

I could see Gregg making it depending on who's choosing. If it ends up being a hitter, the only logical choice would be Schierholz.

I wouldn't say most deserving, but most likely to be perceived as deserving by those in charge? Sure.

Soriano and Castro struck out on nearly-identical pitches in the dirt. Jedi and apprentice.

Jedi...or Sith? :)

I'm not saying it would've made a difference there but Starlin needs to learn to keep the tag on.

Horrible route by Sappy Sappelt there.

In seriousness, though, I don't think this team is going to be that much more unwatchable. Has there been any scuttlebutt that we'll move someone of note besides Garza?

Gregg, plus a little talk about Schierholtz, but that's about it.

I have to believe some of the outfielders will be moved. Gregg will also be moved.

At least Schierholtz and Gregg are rumored to be on the block, as well.

I had forgotten about Gregg, although I don't really consider him noteworthy either (although his random resurgence this year has been pretty fun).

Schierholtz does fit the profile of trade bait (2nd-year arb next year). That would really hamstring the offense the rest of the year, not that it matters.

He may not be noteworthy but losing one of the two reliable bullpen arms they have (the 2nd one being a frankensteined combination of a bunch of other dudes over the course of the year) will definitely make this team more difficult to watch. The part of the team that is easily the worst will be getting substantially worse.

Four pitch walk to Liriano to lead off the 6th...I don't think Samardzija's got it today, Cubs.

Was Tabata out at first?

Yes, he was on the slow-mo replay.
