It was more important to keep Bickell than Bolland and/or Frolik. Good work Stan.

And he's got some money to do something else too.

$16 mil over 4 years for Bickell.

Well, wish it wasn't that much but he would have gotten that easy.

So, is the bonus spread across the 4 years as far as the cap hit?

So much for a hometown discount.

he would have gotten more than that on the open market

Not to say I told you so but...

It is steep but they could afford it give the depth in Rockford.

So Winnipeg now has Frolik, Ladd and Buff.

Yeah but Frolik never played with those guys of course.

Right, just saying...they have a habit of collecting Stanley Cup winning castoffs. :P

are captain serious and that gammons dude really complaining about the blackhawks right now?

yeah, we're really going to miss those 10-15 points frolik was going to put up next year

that was a lot of money we were paying a fourth-liner. I called this trade way back in september or something. he just makes too damn much

Yeah I was wondering if some of these people missed the Stanley Cup Championship 6 days ago.

well, I don't know anything about the draft picks they took, but I'm on board with the moves made and the type of players you can theoretically acquire with those picks.

Yeah, I'm the same. All I can tell is that it definitely looks like we went with speed over size. Which isn't terribly surprising.

Reading this morning that some teams were prepared to give Bickell $5mil/yr. So I guess that is a bit of a discount.

It’s going to be so confusing for Bolland in Toronto whenever anyone mentions “that historic collapse in Boston” and he starts smiling.

Definitely happy we kept Bickell, but I'm a bit skeptical that he can produce in the regular season like he did in this year's playoffs. Also was reading a Toronto blog yesterday and one of the guy was posting stats that showed that Bolland was one of the best shutdown forwards in the league.

Dave Bolland

2011/12

Comp: 1.386 Thats second highest on the team. He was matched against the opposition’s best.

OZone: 32.5% He was out for Dzone draws more than 2/3rds of the time

CorsiOn/Rel: -1.35 /-9.7 In the context of the matching and zone starts, thats outstanding.

I really mean it when I say he was one of the best shutdown guys in the NHL for 2 seasons. He wasn’t overpaid then.

Then this past season he was [expletive] brutal by almost any measure.

But overall, I definitely understand the move and almost certainly would have done the same as what Bowman had to do.
