Don't know how long it will last but with Ransom/Valbuena's play right now 3B is almost a strength. Certainly gives the Cubs no reason to rush back Stewart, if they even bring him back.

Question: how long can they keep Stewart on a "rehab" assignment?

Still, the clock is ticking on his rehab assignment – according to my count, he’s got just four days left before he reaches the 20-day maximum for a positional player’s rehab stint.

Patently unfair and biased update:

3B wOBA leaders, 90 PA minimum:

Cabrera

Wright

Longoria

Donaldson

Machado

Valbuena

How long do they keep Stewart now? Even if Valbuena reverts back to last years offensive line, it would probably take a week or 2 for Stewart to adjust back to major league pitching, then at least a couple weeks to evaluate where he is at. So a month would be needed to even see if he's an upgrade. All the while, he would be in AAA, taking innings away from Vitters and eventually Lake. Seems like unless Valbuena gets hurt, or really falls off fast, Stewart had better do something outstanding and pretty quickly or he's got to be gone.
