TBFIBB chimed in on facebook:

"Big Whoop. Chicago finally won something. Too bad the Cubs will always suck. #GoBlues #GoRams #GoCards"

You don't get to be the best fans in all of baseball without being a complete and total douche, apparently!

On another note... I was able to introduce hockey to my 2 nephews (aged 15 and 13). They'd never watched it before and were pleasantly surprised at all the action. I told them that NOTHING beats playoff hockey. Nothing.

Playoff baseball does. And basketball. And football. But definitely baseball.

As someone who loves all 4 of these sports, this is 100% wrong. You can't really have a legitimate opinion on the topic since you admittedly have no interest in hockey and are going to rule against it in any comparison.

Hockey is easily my least favorite of the big four and their playoffs are easily the most exciting and my favorite.

In an attempt to be objective, I could see putting it ahead of basketball (mainly because I hate the way the World Basketball Federation is officiated) and I'd agree with goony that a comparison with football isn't really a fair comparison (really with any sport). I will blindly and biasedly (I don't know that to be a word) put baseball ahead of it all day, though.

if anyone wants to see the cbc versions of the highlights, check out the channel xxxcrosby87xx on youtube, he has everything. they showed bickell's family in the crowd going nuts when he scored the tying goal. also, the nbc broadcast inexplicably didn't show the bench reaction of the game winner, but it's on the cbc version.

NBC drew a 33.0 rating in Boston. That's pretty much even with the 33.3 for Game 6 in 2011. Game 7 drew a 30.2 in champion Chicago, down a bit from Game 6 in 2010 (32.8).

Yeah, they're referencing a Game 7 that never happened, for some reason.

Or are you confused about the actual numbers?

I would guess that's just a typo and means to be Game 6.

Watching this French-Canadian broadcast. Didn't know Toews spoke French.

I didn't realize Kane and Toews are only signed for two more seasons.

What can we expect for their next contracts? Are they going to have to decide for one over the other?

They'd better not. Those two should be one-club guys for their whole career.

They will both get raises of a couple million each, and they will both almost certainly remain Blackhawks. Both seem to absolutely love playing in Chicago and they are the two faces of the franchise. I wouldn't be too worried, our dynamic duo should be around for a long, long time.

Let the hockey fans say what they want in the hockey thread.

I just don't like euphoria based hyperbole I guess.

That's stupid. It's not euphoria based or hyperbolic. It's been a longstanding understanding by most people who pay attention to sports.

Yes, you're right. I was crazy to think a statement like "NOTHING beats playoff hockey. Nothing." said hours after watching his team win the stanley cup could possibly be hyperbolic or based in euphoria.

And that last sentence is complete and utter nonsense. I really don't want to bash hockey, but you're trying to pick this fight... If most people who pay attention to sports think nothing beats it, why is it it easily the 4th most popular sport?

This is all kinds of awful

Well, this is awkward. I thought we were cool.
