Shoulders already with a walk. Did I mention I'm really starting to like him.

And Vogelbach with a single; I guess I have to wonder if Vogelbach becoming a singles hitter is a good sign; he has a high OBP and BA, so could it be that pitchers are afraid to throw him anything that he can drive, and he's adjusting to them by taking the bad pitches and hitting the good ones for singles rather than just sitting on fastballs and clobbering them when a pitcher is foolish enough to give him one.

I know they paid him overslot but Shoulders in the 25th round is starting to look like found money.

Here's hoping he keeps it up.

Interesting (in my opinion) side note: Theo and Co. drafted Shoulders in 2010 (20th round).

Shoulders was a top 10 round talent. Fell due to signability concerns. Didn't think he'd sign for as little as he did(294k) and figured the only way we'd sign him was if we couldn't sign Vogelbach.

Both Shoulders and DeVoss from that draft were previously drafted by the Red Sox.

As I recall, that draft was full of those overslots; Shoulders, Dunston, and Gretzky to name a few. I think Jensen might have been one. Of course Maples was the big one. There was also another pitcher that we werent able to sign. Rickey something? Then the league put the kibosh on that type of thing.

John Arguello, of CubsDen, is at the KC game and chatted with Joe Boehringer about our prospects. He'll have a post up on it later.

Zach Mortimer of Baseball Prospectus:

Zach Mortimer @ZachMort

Has raw power; not sure he's more than an org+ guy. RT @breid4: @ZachMort What are your thoughts on Rock Shoulders' potential?

Hahaha, most likely. It is important to remember that odds are this is Brian Dopriak revisited moreso than anything else. Still, it's been pretty damn fun so far.
