Oilers killing the Wild 4-0 in the 2nd period. Tomorrow could be a fun day for those last couple of spots.

That's just amazing. Fighting for your life and you get steamrolled by Edmonton at home. There's a reason I thought MN was the best potential first round opponent for the Hawks.

I think if the options are to play Minn or Lumbus, you would be better off playing Lumbus in my opinion. Yes Bobrovski(sp) could steal a game or two but Minn has enough talent to win. They are just under performing for some reason. If a team was going to make a run like LA did last season my money would be on The Wild. Don't get me wrong I think The Hawks would beat either one(or the Wings) but if I had to chose of the three it would be Lumbus, Detroit, Minn in that order.

I disagree because MN can't score.

Funny thing is they are still in good position because they have the tiebreaker with Columbus. Tomorrow night is going to be rockin.

It will definitely suck if Columbus misses the playoffs by 1 point, but it's still remarkable that they started out 5-12-2 and are 18-5-5 since. If they finish 9th, the slow start will obviously be the culprit. Hopefully it will motivate them to hit the ground running in 2013-14

columbus and minnesota are both deeply flawed hockey teams that would get run over by chicago. chicago's only threats are van, la, and stl in the entire league (lol east).

NHL playoff outlook going into the last(ish) day of the season:

East:

- Pittsburgh and Washington have clinched the 1 and 3 seeds.

- Boston and Montreal are tied for the 2 seed, though Boston has a game in hand (2 remaining). Montreal currently leads the tiebreaker. The division loser will be the 4 seed.

- Toronto gets the 5 seed if they get a point in their last game or Ottawa doesn't win both games.

- NY Islanders are currently in the 6 seed position with a 1 point lead over Ottawa and the Rangers, but lose all the tiebreakers and are done playing, so a point from either Ottawa or the Rangers and the Islanders are 7th, and a point from each and they're 8th.

- NY Rangers hold the tiebreaker over Ottawa for 7th unless they win their last game in a shootout and Ottawa wins one in regulation.

West:

- Chicago, Anaheim and Vancouver have clinched the 1, 2, and 3 seeds.

- St. Louis will be the 4 or 5 seed unless they lose in regulation and San Jose beats Los Angeles in OT or SO. A win and they're the 4 seed regardless.

- The Los Angeles-San Jose loser will be the 6 seed, unless the above mentioned scenario happens.

- Detroit is the 7 seed with a win, and is in the playoffs with a point or a regulation loss by Minnesota or Columbus.

- Minnesota is in the playoffs with a win, and holds the tiebreakers over Detroit and Columbus.

- Columbus needs at least a point and a Minnesota regulation loss, or a win and a Detroit regulation loss or Minnesota loss to make the playoffs. Columbus would climb to the 7 seed with a win and regulation losses by Detroit and Minnesota.

I was resigned to the fact that The Wings were not going to make the playoffs and was okay with it. Now that they can get in with just one point I will be frickin upset if they do not make it. I am not that big of a "look how great our playoff streak is kind of guy." But in reality it has been a rather impressive streak. This would be the first year that they barely made it, if they do. I think they have only been lower than a 4 seed twice during the streak.

Sucks to lose the tiebreaker to a team that is clearly inferior.

Nothing like finishing the season 19-5-5 and missing the playoffs

Yeah that's a bum deal, but very good for the franchise going forward. I'm sure there will be a lot of excitement anyway with new division and new opponents. Good for that team.

In other news, I saw that one of the sisters (not sure which, don't care) played 22 seconds last night in order to extend his "iron man" streak. Lame.

I think your bigger beef may be with San Jose. Finished 2 points behind them but they only had 17 ROWs. I may be biased though cause I hate shoot outs. Anaheim's point total received a nice boost from being really good at shoot outs also.

i had this intuition that minnesota might be dangerous for some reason, but my intuition was garbage. they're as good as they finished, and are still a ways away from being a truly dangerous team

I'll be interested to see if they can actually lure any free agents here. Has the perception of the team changed among the players?

If they offered Malkin a contract like the one Parise got, he'd have to at least think about it.

I hope Lumbus wins the draft lottery too.
