Trade Rape by OKC

This game probably just won him the MVP. And to think he would have stayed in OKC for so cheap and wouldn't have hurt them on the luxury tax.

Throw this game out, to suggest OKC ripped off Houston is still hillarious.

Fake argument.

Two smart gm's got what they want. Of course OKC fans are bummed. Practical & safe isn't usually exciting & fun.

It's not a fake argument, it's an actual quote. OKC fans should be bummed as it was a trade to avoid the tax. If the Bulls pulled something like this, Chicago fans would [expletive] riot

But OKC isn't in the bulls market. Why don't you get that? It was harden for a year and nothing, or a trade. I feel Houston overpaid big time. In a year they could have signed him. Thus I think OKC trade raped them. This isn't that hard to figure out.

The odds are, that none of those pieces OKC got back will equal the player of James Harden. I don't think you understand the defintion of trade rape.

Giving away more than you need to in order to get a guy. They could have waited a year and bought him. Giving up nothing.

He was a restricted free agent. There's no guaruntee they could have landed him for sure. They gave up an expiring contract, a mid round draft pick this year, and a future lottery ticket for one of the best young 2 guards in the game. No one was raped here.

Had OKC matched they would have went over the cap and thus paid twice as much. He was gone.

everybody needs to stop pretending bill simmons doesn't exist and explain to me why he isn't right.

is there any argument that this isn't just a huge throwaway of talent based on the concern that you might like break even instead of making thirty million dollars every year (which would likely be negated if you actually managed to win something)? or is he full of it?

i honestly have no idea if he is right, someone explain.

hahah i was actually going to say he's getting all this from simmons

it's not that he's wrong, it's that he's convinced that everybody has this bizarre stance against what he's saying. like we all think harden sucks or something.

the thunder didn't own this trade, but they got a fair return.

well, they could have afforded it if they really wanted to keep that trio together

Yeah, but the odds are slim they would have. Very slim. They have to keep either ibaka or harden and it's a lot easier to find talented guards than centers.

harden is way better at his position than ibaka is at his. i disagree that bigs are harder to find. how many great 2 guards are out there? Edited by 17 Seconds

Yes harden is better, but I think the NBA is loaded with good guard/forwards. I can't think of too many very good centers.

Yeah, one guy inexplicably says "trade rape" and he decides he's now going to show up everyone else every time Harden has a good game.

And to be clear. I don't think Harden sucks at all. Just think Houston overpaid because of where his contract was at with OKC.
