IF we're going to lose, might as well be to the Astros. No shot of the top pick if we're actually beating them in series.

As bad as the Cubs are, there is zero chance of catching the Astros. They are in their own league of bad.

That hasn't stopped the jackass astro announcers from talking [expletive] about the cubs all series long. Someone should set their half of the booth on fire.

Isn't Milo Hamilton dead yet?

It's not very likely, but what other reasons can I think of to pick a team to beat the Cubs? And lose 5 of the last 8 against them and the records are only a few games apart.

If the Cubs have to be worse than the Astros, I hope it's next year.

Volstad is our #4 starter on the 2017 contending team, according to WSR

I don't know about 2017, but Volstad looked an awful lot like a 5 starter last night, unless you go with the "it's the Astros, so it's the equivelant of 26 runs" mind set. He makes 2.66MM this season, and I can't imagine that price going up by much via arbitration.

He looked an awful lot like a NT candidate to me. Not sure which game you were watching.

I guess I kind of agree with KG on Volstad: Kind of hard to give up on a 6'8 dude that throws low 90's, with a downward plane. But I have given up, it was just kind of hard. He really [expletive] sucks.

I didn't say anything last night, but what good is low 90's with downward plane when your secondary pitches suck?

in the end, not much. Ask Volstad.
